ok so i had the primary off recently and did some mods

xb 12 primary sprocket and chain, removed the spring plate and replaced it with two steel plates and one friction disc, checked all the bearings out, new lube, gaskets, and primary tensioner.

so now i go and tension it up, try it out, and DAMN its kinda loud in there, and its pretty stiff to shift (when running and not)

so i think im too tight on the primary adjustment so i do it again, and on the loose side, still same issue

try it on the tight side? same issue

try it again on the looser side, still stiff to shift, slightly noisy and hard to find neutral.

actually the shifting feels good, it takes a little more force of my foot, but its a nice CLICK CLICK when switching gears, like a metric crotch rocket.

however, it wouldnt bother me except neutral is really hard to find now, especially with it running almost impossible, and im no longer getting a light when it IS in there.

so could i have messed something up or am i still out of adjustment?

Sounds like the clutch is not releasing completely when you pull the lever. Set the primary where it should be, or perhaps just a touch loose, and then do a complete clutch adjustment. Should solve the problem.

As to the neutral light, first ground the wire to the neutral switch and see if it works; could be a bad bulb.

Also, make sure your shifter is adjusted correctly. I don't think it's the issue in your case, but it makes a difference too. If you have a boomerang type shifter, the arm should be straight vertical, and adjust the linkage so that the toe peg is in a comfortable, neutral position to your foot. When I put a Banke arm on my stock boomerang, it was difficult to find neutral because it made the throw shorter. I cut down the boomerang and drilled a new hole to accomodate the shorter length of the Banke arm and now neutral is a lot easier to find because I have slightly more throw, which is fine by me because I wear a 13 shoe lol.
