Hey Guys Just recently got an X1 & Im wondering if there is a cover that I can get for the battery as it seems quite bare & exposed. Is there such a thing & where can you get one? btw Im from Ireland so if there is a place that I can get it from the UK or europe it would be much handier Thanks |

Or if someone could post the dimensions (and picture would help) so maybe we could get one (or more) made. I've also been looking for one since I got my X1. |

I'm pretty sure Onebadx1 made his own out of sheet metal or something...Looked good too. |

There was a black plastic Buell kit available at one time, but i don't have the part number. I'm pretty sure they are obsolete now, but I may be wrong. I wanted a little more "bling" so I had a local guy make me a battery cover out of stainless steel. He also made the bracket that mounts under the battery strap to attach the cover . I could see if he still has the dimensions and ask how much it would take to make a few more. |

I'm sure if someone with access to a metal shop could "stamp" out a whole bunch in no time. Need the overall dimensions to start with. We could then take the "flat" sheet to a local place and have them cut, bend, weld and paint the sides. |

Yes, But you'd have to make the mounting bracket also..... Unless you have another way to mount the box...? |

I'll try to mock up something with cardboard to get feel for the complexity. My thought was making something more like a "sleeve" and "slide" the battery in it and reuse the existing bracket, etc. My imagination tends to be distorted (according to my wife anyway) so I'm probably way off... |

>>Unless you have another way to mount the... Before I got my X1 from my brother he had me fab one out of Stainless and I used 3M emblem adhesive tape to mount it and when it came time for him replace the battery it was such a bitch to remove that he threw the cover in the trash. If you are going to make it out of metal don't forget that you need a plastic or rubber liner over the battery terminals. |

Geeeze! I sure like the stainless battery cover. I have the black plastic one which looks great, but SHINEY is nicer. I'd be interested in two covers for each of my X1's. Let me know if you have some made up and how much. Having the holes drilled in the stock location as the plastic ones would be critical for me. |
