How much "jiggle" should there be in the saddlebags with the latches adjusted properly? It took a while but I was able to adjust them up so that there's basically none, and combined with the 4th mounting point they're on there pretty solid and looking good. | ||

What is the 4th mounting point you mentioned? I have an '01 S3T with 3 mounting points, that I have repaired twice with fiberglass reinforcement. | ||

Mine are kind of wiggly, but I suspect it's because the rubber sheet pads have all fallen off. My "bumpers" at the license plate mount are dialed all the way out. I think setting everything a little tighter would be nice, but too tight and I might risk damage to fully-laden bags over big bumps (I keep my suspension somewhat stiff). | ||

Ottr: Al from American Sport Bike outlines how he did the 4th mounting point in this thread - http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/34032.html I did mine differently but just running a bolt from the inside of the bag to the license plate mount and rubber hose to work as spacers. The main point is that instead of the bumpers on the rear corners you have something that holds the bag in place and keeps them from bouncing around all over. I'm going with the "snug is good" school on the bags. Now, obviously you don't want them too snug as you could damage the bag without even moving, but I've adjusted all my latch points to where they're just tight enough to not jiggle any. I think that when they bounce around, that's what does the majority of the damage. Mine were loose before and already developing cracks at 12kmi. So now they're snugged up, fiberglassed and with the 4th mounting point so I'm hoping they'll be good to go for a long time. | ||

Check for cracks on the bags. Open the bags and wiggle them while looking for cracks. |
