Okay, I just got a low miles Cyclone M2L (< 6K Miles). I haven't had a bike for about 5 years, and before that I was on BMW's. Is there a "CheckList" that I should go through to make sure this bike is up to Par / RoadWorthy? I'm guessing if nothing else, just go through the Maintenance schedule, and assume EVERYTHING needs to be done. But are there typical Buell-isms to look for? Overall the bike is in Great shape. The rear tire is getting a bit thin, which leads me to believe that the low miles where not necessarily Easy Miles! Other than being Cold Blooded, and not liking Low RPM's, this beast runs Great, handles Great, and Looks Great. The seller did give me his Shop Manual for this bike as well. Any advice would be appreciated. I put 100K+ miles on my last Beemer, and look forward to Racking them up on this Mule! | ||

First you need a Factory Service Manual. Your M2 is a 2001 per your profile so it should have all the upgrades already on it. So just do the maintenance and you should be fine. 6K miles on the rear tire is pretty typical, ridden hard or not. These bikes respond really well to a free flowing air cleaner and exhaust along with re-jetting the carb so they run a little richer. Enjoy the ride. | ||

I wish there were a sticky post at the top of the tuber KV for "things you should do to your tuber to make it more reliable and enjoyable to ride". If you search here, you'll find many threads related to recommended improvements. Most have to do with installing OEM parts from later models. | ||

I second the service manual after getting my M2. I began going through all of the very basics plus checking the upgrades. it turns out the prior owner wasn't terribly careful and I caught a bunch of small things and a couple of sort-of potential disasters if I hadn't checked everything. There are certain tuber specific "charms" to keep an eye on. But overall it's easy to work on and just wonderful to listen to and drive. I think they're one of the most beautiful bikes of all time along with the S1. You'll find it's a tight community and people here tremendously helpful! | ||

Congratulations. Nice looking bike. Since you already have the aftermarket air cleaner and the breather tubes re-routed, I'd guess that the PO has already re-jetted the low speed jet and may have done the other carb mods but you can't tell by looking. Other than standard fluid changes, make sure the belt is adjusted right and is not too tight. Enjoy your new bike.  | ||

Wow! Thanks for the responses! Just going over the bike it looks like it was well taken care of. The PO did say he added a +1 jet, and recently change all fluids and tuned her up. She runs great! Although until I read that these bikes like to be in the >3,000 RPM range, the bike seemed to Chug a bit harder than my Brothers Sportster. Now I cruise through town in 3rd/3500 RPM and it is Very Smooth! Well, since everything seems to be in order, and it's a Gorgeous Day, I'm gonna go put 100 miles or so on this Mule. I need to get a Proper Helmet, so 1st stop is the Bike Shop! Thanks for the Warm Response! I think I'm gonna like it here... | ||
