I am in need of a gas cap for a 96' S1 Lightning. Mine was stuck in the tank and took forever to get out! Anyone having a cap as new as possible, please contact me at:jvindigni@yahoo.com and let me know what you need for it. I've been told a Blast cap is the same size. Does anyone have any proof of this? Hope to find some information soon. Johnny |

i don't know if this helps or not. my 98 s1w had a sticky cap almost would not come out, because i drained the tank after reading about a guy whose paint blistered over the winter of not using the bike. i was almost going to buy new parts then i read here (can't find it right now but i know it's here. rest the cap over the filler hole without pushing down on the cap. then put a rag over the cap to keep the vapors down in the garage. the next morning the cap fell in the hole and works fine. it seems the rubber ring dries out and shrinks around the cap.....hope it helps.... |

I guarantee the Blast cap is the same. I can't count how many I've interchanged...both ways (we've got some Blast owners 'round here who want locking caps, so I've ordered late locking tuber caps for them and put 'em on their Blasts in addition to putting Blast caps on tubers). |
