remove, and repack your V & H exhaust, and also check all exhaust fittings for proper sealing... Like the Jardines, the Vance & Hines should be repacked every 15,000 miles |

Wish the packing in my V&H would last 15k, its more like 1.5k... Have had to do it 3 times in the last 7 months. Not so bad tho, cause its needed rewelding/riveting all three time. Oh and needs welding again..but F it, a hose clamp will fix it for now. |

I packed my V&H with rope used in the door seals of woodstoves. I found it at the local hardware store, made to take the heat and easy to pack, just wrap around the core of the V&H. I think it was 1/2" diameter rope. |

Steel wool is also popular as a pack material. |

I am using the OEM V&H packing material and I just checked the condition last weekend by removing the end cap. After 5K miles it is still tightly packed in there with hardly any slop in the baffle. 1.5K miles seems very unusual but I suppose it depends on how you ride the bike. You must have a very heavy right hand... |

I blew out a brand new V&H ssr2 can in 750 miles. Then the can disintegrated as it vibrated. |
