Ok, I have the adapter that goes in between oil filter and the cases...BUT, I have an idea, but am not too sure on it's consequences/benefits. I want to the see about routing the exit side of the oil pump line that runs up under the filter, directly into an oil cooler, with the exit of the oil cooler running back to the stock location. I know that is the high pressure side of the oil pump, and know I'll have to run high pressure hose on it, but I don't see why it would be a problem running it this way. Any remarks? Thought after the fact of writing my question : The reason the adapter is used for the oil cooler lines between the filter and case is to be able to drain the oil from the cooler I assume no? |

The adapter makes for easy universal fit,I don't care for them. Last week I installed an XB cooler on my X1. I used 1/8" pipe/-6 fittings on the oil pump and filter housing then machined a clamp type bracket to mount the cooler to the left front tube for the lower front stabilizer. I used Stratoflex hose and fittings for the plumbing and it looks and works great. |

here's a pic of mine mounted on my '95 S2
I intercepted the old stock oil line running back to the oil tank, routed it to the oil cooler, and then back to the tank. This way, the oil is cooled before it goes into the tank. I hope this helps... |

Without having a clue what I'm talking about, I'd suggest that adding a restriction in the return to tank line would be safer than adding it to the business end of the flow. Blockage in the cooler would result in wet-sumping rather than running dry. |

hi wilson, have heard of the mod your thinking of before and have considered it myself,i did the sandwich plate instead because the oil line connections over here are hard to but otherwise i would have done it,have not heard of any problems with the mod but have heard of sealing problems with the sandwich plates, |

I would put the cooler on the return line, less plumbing and hotter oil/more potential heat transfer. Plus the oil tank that you are sitting on is cooler. |

Wilson, I'd do some parts trading in the future. Post the pics and maybe get opinions from others. |

I've got the pics uploaded finally Thanks JRamsey! I think it looks awesome, and is exactly what I planned on doing and how I envisioned it in my head. Your routing of the lines is exactly as I had planned on doing also. So, good to see it can be done. |
