Hello. I just bought a one owner 99' M2 with 4800 miles. This bike is all stock except for D&D exhaust, Forcewinder Intake, and a Stage 2 Dyno Jet kit. I noticed a stainless tube, just above the intake where I thought there should be a cap on it but there is not. When the bike runs you can feel air pulse in and out of it. Is this ok???

You need to run that to a catch can or it will spit oil / splooge al over your leg at the most inopportune time. |

Can you be more specific? Maybe post a reference picture? Is it not ok to just cap it off? |

Needs to be open. Connect a hose and run it to a puke tank with a filter/breather. If you cap it off you'll blow out every gasket in the motor. Pistons going up and down create internal pressure and vacuum with every crankshaft revolution and it needs to be vented. |

The Forcewinder "kit" comes with a metal tube which has a couple of bends to route your open breather nipple to the back on the filter. Most people route the tube to a catch can instead so the breather spooge does not go in the filter. I'm sure you can order that tube separately from Force or just use a flexible tube instead and save a few $. You definitely do not want to plug that nipple. |

wow that's a sweet deal. I just saw one of those catch-cans go on ebay for $88, but with the filter and tubes. |

Just ordered that can! Thanks for the link! I notice 2 nipples on the can I know one is for the hose, Is the other one just for a vent? If so, Would I have to put a filter on that end or could I just leave it like it is? |

there is a link for the K and N filter on the page from the link above. I'd put that on the other connection. Otherwise you might still have an issue with oil and crap spraying out. |

Thanks to all for the input! I ended up just cobbing up a cheap-o catch can for now. I had to reverse the line that was on there to pipe it towards rear of bike. $12 total investment. Should work right?

dont waste your time with a messy catch can just route the hose to the ground. very little drips out. i used to have a catch can that caused so much pointless headache. just route it to the ground. |

I have mine routed to a mini K&N filter so oil can get out but nothing can be sucked in. No catch can. |

I spent a bunch of time fussing with this on my M2... stained pants and stained parking spots and stained garage floors later, I was happy the 9SX that replaced the M2 had it routed into the intake... YMMV... I'm just one datapoint... |

Go to the XB rocker boxes(PCV) and no umbrella valves. That and don't over fill and you won't have any mess to fool with. |

I have a billet breather oil collector on my bike.Part no. 5624, came with the K&N breather. Kit costed 122.95 but mind you this was 5/8/2001. Its pretty nice and finishes it up well. With a stainless bracket that attatches to the enricher knob. The only minus I have is occasionally a little oil spits through the filter onto surrounding parts. |

I found a fair bit of goo collecting and dripping from my bike's breather line (routed to the back of the bike), a catch can from Pegasus Auto has bee a nice option for me, keeping the bike clean now. |

I think the amount of goo varies from bike to bike and may also depend on where you live; dry, humid, etc. My bike (X1) does put out a decent amount of goo - roughly 2 oz every couple of hundred miles or so and sometimes it is really watery and other times it is thicker. It also has a greenish color to it probably due to the pollen in the air and all the trees in the area. I certainly wouldn't want it end up on my rear tire. |
