I have the caliper off the rotor and the piston fully retracted but cant get the mounting bracket pins to move enough to clear the slave pad to get it off. Whats the secret? |

it has been a while, my memory is suspect, but can't the pads be changed WITHOUT removing the caliper? sorry if i am wrong, but it may have gotten more complicated than necessary by removing the caliper............ |

You are correct Fasted you don't need to take the caliper off just unscrew the pin carefully push back the pistons and put the new pads in making sure you put the spring clip back where it was. Bob try just putting it all back as it was then follow the above instructions. |

I don't know if X1 has a different rear brake but I changed my pads with the caliper on the bike just like Fasted mentioned. Took less than half hour including a trip to the frig to grab a beer... |

This is the single piston Brembo. I finally figured it out but I don't see how it could be done without then caliper off. Thanks for all the replies |
