forgive me lord for i have sinned... i posted progress of my build with sh***y cell phone pics. thanks. good god do those pics look awful. lol Phelan? i thought you already skipped the whole PITA bracket with stock forks BS and went with XB forks? got any pics of your work? |

That is very similar to what I had in mind when I thought about using the stock forks. Looks good. Is it 6061? |

No, I had a buddy build me a bracket of steel in about an hour. He's a wizard with metal. Same guy that adapted the Edelbrock A/C to my carb.

doesn't look bad at all! roughly the exact same shape as my 2nd revision. And yes, 6061-T6 billet alum. the first two designs has nicely shaped openings similar to the forks and Phelans bracket and was 3/8" thick... but after a thousand miles of testing the alum showed some serious stress points. the part you see there is my 5TH version and has no fancy holes in it and is 1/2" thick. after extensive testing of heavy braking (140mph-0mph), stoppies, wheelies (this doesn't exactly test the brake caliper bracket but it is fun ) and day to day stop and go traffic (over 1200miles), this last design is showing to hold its own VERY well. almost ZERO stress points have developed. |

this is the only other pic i have of her. those wheels are off now and the 14" mags are back on. i bought it midway through a restoration and i'm saving up to complete her. |
