Had this shock laying around the shop. Nobody knows where it came from or what it came off of. Looks Buell to me. Anyone know?

that is a wp shock that came on older tubers (don't remember what year they stopped using them) before they started using showa. (Message edited by firebolt020283 on February 17, 2010) |

The good thing about them is that they are rebuildable unlike the showa but I think there was some sort of problem with them though i do not remember what it is. |

Firebolt020283, The Showa shock can be rebuilt. I got the kit from race tech last year. If you need a spring your screwed. They no got. |

The recall was because it is really insufficient for heavier riders. So if you are 160lbs., this shock is a dream. If you are over 200lbs. or for 2-up, it's dedicated suicide. That shock belongs on a Show-only S2. |

looks pretty good on the RSS too. Does anyone know why the RS and the RSS had different shocks? The RS (as was the RR I think) did not have an exposed spring. They also didn't have a remote damper. I got one in the garage, are they rebuildable? Also isn't there a version missing in the pic above? There was a 16.5in Showa version without remote damper. I got one on my M2.... No open recall on that one... |

Racetech can rebuild the WP shocks and put a larger spring on it for your weight. I've been looking for one for a while. Eibach also has larger springs for them. |

So, as Ebutch mentioned, have there been any problems with street breakage on these shocks? My bike was put down as having been through the recall in some years past, but when I bought it last year it had a WP shock on it. Pressed plate style. I'm north of 200 pounds, and 8000 miles in. Is it something that actually bears thinking about? Has one broken on the street that we know about? Whats up with the magnet thing? Is there a steel version eye or something? Thanks in advance. |

I,ve got a magnet on my shock to trip some stop lights. If your WP is bottoming-out you can get a stiffer spring.I have no information what so ever of them braking on the road!Race bikes are really stressed to limits!!! |
