If you want your rods to last, stay below 6500 RPM ... The Buell race ignition goes hard until it cuts out at 6800 rpm.   Blake Posted on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 - 12:28 pm:        Ignition timing on the S1's, M2's, S3's, and X1's is slightly retarded beginning at 6,200 rpm compared to the race module. My 1958 XL (iron head SPORTSTER) would, which was before LIMITERS !!! "i" REV'ed it 8000 RPM by mistake and the rods broke ...
