Well, the S2 is FINALLY back together. Only been about six weeks for freakin' NRHS pushrod bases and XB rockerbox conversion! (speaking of which, I used 2 front rockerboxes because of PCV clearance on the rear head to the fuel tank - so if anyone needs a rear XB rockerbox in black, bare, brand new...) Of course the timeframe wasn't helped by my getting sick...and we went on vacation for 10 days...have a new puppy at home...bought a CR to play with...in 'real' garage time it was only one night apart, and one night together. Had to replace the VOES, too - the ground wire pulled out of the switch itself. Could explain the pinging problem I've developed recently. Anyway. Get it all together, lines routed for the breathers, bodywork on...and *click*. GRRRRRRR. Try to jump it off the (NOT running) truck, and the crappy jumper cables first arced at the truck. Then once I got 'em to make good contact and stop sparking at that end and they started moving voltage...they were sparking at the bike end. So I gave up. If I weld with BOTH ends of jumper cables...I go inside and grab a beverage, I'm done for the night. It's on the trickle charger. Guess I find out tomorrow if I got all the gaskets in right, LOL. |

Rat: I can identify! I pulled mine apart to change out the rockerbox on the back cylinder because of the tank clearance issue. Got that done, put it all back together and fired it up to check for leaks and stuff--all good. So I went to push it back into the "Buell Room" at the ranchito and knocked it off the stand! Now I need to put on a new windscreen and turn signal (thanks Al--the box is in the shop) and a new ebay bar-end. So I bought a couple of sets of the cheap bar-ends from Power Freaks on ebay and they send me the wrong ones! They're great folks, they took care of the problem, but it took another week. So the bottom line is, changing out one rockerbox lid and repairing the ensuing self-inflicted damage has taken me a month. But as of yesterday, I have all the correct parts in hand and I'm all set to go out to the shop, put it together and go for a ride this afternoon. Care to guess what's in this afternoon's weather forecast for Welcome, TX? ....

"Your S2 KNOWS that you have been riding that water cooler." Yep, you have your air cooled karma all out of balance. |

Well, trickle charger had a green light this morning. Fired right up...ran out of gas. I knew I was *low*, but jeez... Fortunately I still had my 2gal can from Buelltoberfest, filled with premium instead of mower gas Got 'er running. TAPTAPTAPTAPTAP. Jeez, that lifter will NOT pump up. Still wearing sweats and sneakers...pulled on the fieldsheers and jacket/gloves/helmet and went to the corner store to fill the tank. Took the long way around the "block" - I'm rural, it's about 5 miles (and I only hit 6k a *couple* of times, lol) - and she was nice and quiet when I got 'er home. No visible leaks...yet...so I rode her to work. GAWD I love that bike. So planted, so stable, so comfortable...and gorgeous. That bodywork...it's like I'm discovering it all over again. I feel MUCH better now! |
