I want a little more aggressive riding position, so I was thinking of putting LSL 1" rise clip-ons on my bike. I know they use 7/8 bars, I have access to a lathe so I can turn 1" aluminum stock (per a suggestion I had read from Fireman Jim) so the stock controls fit. Anyone know other options for putting clip-ons with a slight rise on an S2? Thanks! Mike

hi mike if i get some time i will try to post some picks and help you out latter,, you will need some good al bar stock.. i used solid 6061.. the weight of the solid will help quiet some of the finger numbing bar vibes.. you will also need a mill and i think a 1/2 inch ball mill.. if you dont have the proper equipment then just shoot me a pm and i can help make it happen.. aaron |

Thanks Aaron, Are you running hi-rise or standard clip-ons? I was also wondering about clearance. Yeah pics would be great. I'm confused, what do I need a mill for? |

i run my own clip ons..
these are ones i made when i had a different fairing on the bike.. they just clear with the current set up. im not sure if they would if they were lower.. you will need the mill to cut the "dimples" in the back of your bars for wire clearance.. dimples are just long dents in the hollow bars that allow the wiring for all your controls to pass threw. these bars are perfect with the stock seat.. after i made these i puchased a corbin gunfighter and lady.. this seat allows you to move back 2 more inches and leans me forward just a little more than i would like for distance riding.. i have been thinking about making bars with adjustable rise to fix this but havent gotten around to it as of yet.. hope this helps some.. aaron |

Aaron, that is some incredible design and workmanship! Please tell me you came up with an equally elegant fix for the S2 sidestand? |

As a footnote to Aarons clip-on build up. "if anything goes wrong almost every harley dealership in america has them in stock" I recently needed a hi-lo beam/horn switch for my S2T.And found that they have been made obsolete by Harley. They are still available through the aftermarket. So if you have a good dealer they either stock them or can get them quick. the more elegant fix was the billet side plates that al used to sell,,, but i could not afford the the price and in a way wanted to keep the stock powder coated look of the s2t,, i love my kick stand but it does destroy a good side plate.. in the past i had seen ones on e bay with the side stand mount broke off.. if you could find one of those they would be prefect starting points for what i did.. my stock side plate with its factory super lean kick stand is on the shelf in the basement with a stock pair of s2 side plates,, just in case,, the modified one i purchased just for that project.. i hate destroying stock s2t parts.. most of my mods are just bolt on things that can be switched back with ease.. or i start with something already damaged. |

With stock S2 kick-stand is like trying to lift bike off the ground( takes a real Grunt!!!I,m not getting younger) as I see it,takes Two parking spaces! Biggest Flaw of the S2! Butch |

ouch,,, that is not the factory manual way to remove the rear tire.. follow the kick stand link,, i posted a little more.. but you will have to give me a little bit of time to get behind the kick stand plate picks,,bike is tucked in cozzy in the garage,, will have to move other bikes to get to her.. |
