Just stopped by a local shop and asked about putting my X1 on the Dyno after I complete all the new mods. Not looking to race the bike just want it to run correctly. The owner explained that with out a power commander he really was limited as to what he can do. Whats the deal with the ECM-Spy I have been reading about will this work? If so where can a get the software and cable? |

Get a new dyno operator. |

Yeah.... new dyno operator. power commanders don't work with Buells. They learn as you drive and adapt to run the same as before. The stock curves on the Race ECU are about right for a loud pipe and a forcewinder. |

What Andy and Nate said! EC---Y is the tool of choice for the older ECM's this is the "screw driver" for adjusting the mixture and testing systems. American Sport Bike for the cable PM another menber for a copy of the program. (Message edited by oldog on November 21, 2009) |

ECMSPY for FI = Screwdriver for Carb. Great analogy. |

Just flash your existing ECM with the race map and then go from there. You can have the bike tuned on the dyno using ecmspy. Ecmspy makes it possible for you to tune the bike "live" almost 100% on the dyno........But you need someone who is good at tuning with it, Or try it yourself by data logging with a lap top. I don't like data logging takes to long. |

@Natexlh1000 I have installed a powercommander-3 in my X1. It works fine. So far I know, only the 'new' XBs are not working with a PC3. Greetings, Da Fraemda |

The stock ECM essentially fights the PCIII tune by changing the adaptive fuel value...in effect moving the entire map...which is why tuning the ECM itself is the only truly effective tuning method. You can change the curve of the map, but the ECM will correct the adaptive fuel value regardless. |

PC would work fine if you stayed away from tuning the learned fuel areas. Terry did lots before there was any ECMSPY or Techno Research software. But for your bike ECMSPY much better bet than a piggyback device. Did not know there was any PC3 for a Buell, thought it was all the old style PC?? Though they were reputed to be working on one for 1125. |
