Is the S3 seat cowling plastic or fiberglass? I'm thinking about buying a second one for a custom luggage rack mod and it has a crack. The one on my 99 S3 looks and feels like plastic to me. |

I'm pretty sure they're 'glass...but they may have had a running change in there somewhere. I know my S2 is all 'glass. 1313? Court? |

Plastic. The difference in weight between S2 and S3 rear fairings/tailpiece is pretty incredible. I think there's one on ebay that looks like it's priced a little high. I didn't look closely at the condition, though. These are tough to ship. More than a $100 if you just put in a box. Closer to $30 if the shipper takes time to lift up the rear end up so that the front pieces drop down a bit. |

I believe the S3 plastic in the fairing and the seat shroud is ABS. |

All the bodywork on my 98 S3T were plastic except the leg guards which were fiberglass. |

A quick look at the bible, 25 Years of Buell, confirms ABS is the correct term. I can accept plastic as the same thing for the purposes here... What's ABS stand for, again? |
