Harley wants $80/quart for their denim black paint, so I found this cheaper alternative! John Deere Blitz Black So blitz black on all my S3 plastics, candy apple red for the frame.. .. and I was thinking black chrome powdercoat on the wheels, but I'm also considering chroming them. Any ideas? I LOVE the way this following S3 looks, but putting polished aluminum wheels on my S3 is out of the question. (Betty looks good, but I HATE cleaning and polishing her) btw I'm going to be using cast wheels instead of PM's simply because I like the shape/lines better on the cast wheels. The cast wheels I have are already stripped and ready to get whatever treatment I decide on. |

Be carefull of fuel spills on JD paint because it will blister until fully cured...............which takes about 5 years. BTW are there any springs in the forks of the bike pictured? |

Not when it's tied down lol. Very nice color combo. I was thinking of that on a rebuild as well, but with Carbon Fiber body panels instead of paint . If only my pocketbook aligned with my dreams... |

I didn't think the front could be compressed that much. Wouldn't that damage/deform the springs permanently? |

BB FTW. I am in the process of doing Blitz Black on a spare set of bodywork for the S1 right now. $7 in a rattle can. If you prep it right, and practice, you can actually get a decent finish out or an aerosol. Careful if you're doing Black Chrome powdercoat. Ask to see a finished part. Sometimes the coating will be thicker on say a seam or crease and it will look much darker and not so uniform in color. |
