been a while since i've been on here got a new muscule car 2 weeks ago and i've ignored my bike but now its time to put it away, so looking for some tips and ideas from you guys, thanks

Best method - keep riding it. : D

But seriously, all I've ever done is put the bike on stands to get the tires off the ground and prevent flat/worn spots. I've never used stabil or similar products, but I do fill the tank after my last ride of the season. I also start the bike once every couple of weeks. It also sits with a battery tender all winter long. Lack of use combined with cold weather will kill a battery quick.

FYI, if you let the tank sit for a couple of months with little or no fuel in it, the rubber seals will shrink around the gas cap and make it a giant PITA to pull off when you want to fill it up in the spring! DAMHIK

Condensation in the tank is another reason to keep it full. Water + fuel = bad.

All I do is change oil and primary, fill it up with Stabil, pull the battery and bring it inside on a tender, and either put it on stands or move it throughout the winter.

since you have a carb, I would top off the tank so that there is a reduced amount of air in there.
I would then run the engine with the petcock off until the engine dies.

that way the gas isn't just sitting in the bowl.

On a fuel injected bike like my x1, I turn the key to the "off" position and walk away : )

Or you could buy some cold weather gear. Just a thought. I'm getting ready to invest in a snow mobile suit for the winter. As long as the roads are clear I will be riding.

Fill the tank to the top.

Run the fuel line dry (petcock off, run it till it dies) if you're worried about fuel sitting in the bowl. I never drain mine; I'd rather have liquid fuel in there as opposed to just residue that could possibly dry out and shellac the innards with goop. If you're worried about bowl leakage/overflow, just turn off the petcock so there's no full-tank fuel weight against the carb float, but the line/carb are still full.

Park either on carpet, or put it on stands to keep the tires off cold concrete.

DO NOT start it unless you can RIDE it for at least 20-30 minutes, to burn condensation out of the oil. Start/warm/kill only adds to the condensation.

Snow and ice are concerns...but if it's clear and 'only' cold, I have heated clothes. : )

Fill your gas tank up and run some fuel stabil through your fuel system. Add the correct amount and take her for a blast around the neighborhood to make sure it gets through the whole fuel system. Inflate tires to correct pressure. Pick up a battery tender, hook up the pig tails and plug her in. Thats how I used to do it when I live in the NE. Now I just ride year round in S Fla.!

Everyone has their "IDEA" ???

"BUT", IMHO by the numbers is:

Top off the gas tank and put in 2 oz. for every 2 1/2 Gals.(5 gal. is 2 oz.) of Sta-Bil(buy at Wal-Mart) ...

On level ground with the bike up right, turn the gas off and run the engine until the fuel is ran out of the float bowl ...

Put air in the tires(what ever you normally run) and get them off the floor(ground) ...

If you do not have a TRICKLE CHARGER, remove the NEGATIVE(GRD. Cable), "BUT" if you do have a TRICKLE CHARGER, put it on and keep it on ...

Cover it with your MOTORCYCLE COVER or with a sheet(ONLY ONE THAT YOUR WIFE APPROVES OF !!!) ...
