Can a 99 S3 seat fit on a 1997-98 S3 tank? I ask because I am switching to carb and wanted to check before I mounted an adapter to my FI tank. Thought it would make my job a little easier if I could use the seat, and it mounts right up. Any help would be appreciated. Carb is on the bench, as well as the petcock, so the mod is ready to pull the trigger. Thanks in advance.

It will fit fine. They are interchangeable.

Sure will, that is what I did with mine when I switched to a carb.

Awesome, sounds like a plan. Now I just need to find a complete paint set, or a yellow tank from one of those model years. Do you happen to know the year range I should look for? Guessing 97 and 98, but maybe earlier too?

Excellent, thanks Davefl. Are those tanks the same dimensions as the s3?

Exactly the same on the outside, the fuel capacity should be about a half gallon more on the S3, but... I replaced the tank on my 2000 M2 with a 98 S3 in an attempt to ride further without stopping for gas, only added about 20 miles before hitting my reserve.

Littlebuggles, you just got a little extra "reserve" then with the tank swap! Not much of a deal breaker for me then. A 99 and up M2 tank looks about the same as the S3 tanks from what I have seen. I have a 1998 S3 tank on its way to me now. Would like to still find a yellow one though, otherwise I will have to custom paint my entire bike (at least that is what I am telling my wife). A yellow tank would be cheaper, no doubt, but not as much fun. Let me know if anyone has a yellow manta carb tank sitting around.
