Well I am a knew member here and do not have my bike YET (S2T) but will be taking ownership within the next month or 2. It is my best friend's and have helped him with his build thus far (Stg3 XB NRHS heads, .536 SE cams, SE ignition, HSR42, 1250 kit, SE intake mani, all finished off with a 'trapp. I have a STRONG background of Japanese bike, mainly sporty nakeds and 'rockets. I am wanting to get a lightweight battery but need to know the least CCA (cold cranking amps) and the least aH rating for these bike. The battery that I am looking at is rated at 240 CCA, 5aH and weighs 1.9 lbs! http://turntechbattery.com/TurnTech%20Battery/5.0_ah.html (Message edited by mossdahaus on September 13, 2009) |

An oem battery for an S1 lightning is rated at 430 amps. the odessy replacement for the oem Battery is rated at 540ish amps. On large displacement twins you want as much reserve capacity as you can fit in the bike, not the lightest battery that will turn the thing over in a best case scenario. If the thing kicks back because the starter could not roll the engine all the way through you can break some expensive hardware in a split second. |
