The left handlebar on my 2000 M2 has a trigger finger switch that is supposed to either momentarily illuminate the high-beam when pressed, or "flash" between low and high beam when pressed. Mine doesn't work. Which is it. Does it flash or just go to high-beam while pressed? |

Just goes to high beam until you let go. |

As Redef said it is a momentary on/off switch. (Hold in-Hi beam on, Let go-Hi beam off). Try spraying some contact cleaner in it and let us know if it works. It rarely goes bad. You may have to take it apart to clean it properly. |

Well, I sprayed with contact cleaner and still no joy. I'm not gonna bother with trying to take it apart now because it's just too hot and humid right now. The Service Manual shows in the electrical schematic that the wire goes to the horn but I believe they switched two wires on the schematic because the horn switch is drawn to go to the flasher and they are right next to each other. That is why I wanted to know if it flashed or not. Not sure why it would go to the flasher. Thanks for the info. If I figure out more I'll update this. |

It should be tied into the high beam switch that faces you (the one that keeps the hi beam on). Flash to pass is just a momentary hi beam activation switch/button. I had to disassemble Kim's LH housing for inspection because the horn didn't work. Pulled the horn button contacts, couple brushes with some sandpaper, little contact cleaner...perfect. |
