I am so sick of this bike breaking studs off, I know the exhaust was installed correctly and i double checked it. I also check it after every ride, I have no idea what is going on! The bolts were tightened up to 8 flbs like the manual says to. |

What front exhaust mount setup do you have? It's that front mount that breaks studs... |

Are you talking about the exhaust manifold stud or the front exhaust hanger bolt/stud? If manifold, which one, top or bottom? Sorry if it is obvious... |

I`m in the process of changing mine. Just a little preventative maint. But I did find that some of the after market studs are stronger than the stock parts. I picked them up from an independent shop thats been around for decades. Not sure where they got em but you can feel the weight difference. You might want to shop around before you go with the stock ones. S1Eric |

Yes bushings ok! Well it's fixed got 3 hrs into it! So this time we tightened down header and left the rest loose and got a better fit this time. If this happens again the stock crap will not be used. Just high strength after market parts! We only used stock because it was readily available. I will be making a trip to the nut and bolt store for grade 8 studs or higher. Also i will be getting a new rear upper z bracket as the one I have made up may be helping the bolts shear off by pushing the exhaust can forward. |

"upper z bracket as the one I have made up may be helping the bolts shear off by pushing the exhaust can forward" I think you just described the cause of your stud failures.... |

Kalali When the stud broke i noticed that the header was pushed up at least 1/2" out of alignment of the exhaust port. I think one of 2 things is happening. 1.the z bracket is causing this or 2.the header was bent when the exhaust gasket was left out and torqued down up against the port(was not me who did this) I just want it to stop F'in Up my bike and stopping me from enjoying this bike. |
