Just checking to see if there were any "Iron Butt Association" members among us tubers. A friend with a X1 asked me to join him on a SS1000. I have visions of blowing an isolator on mile 900. |

My return trip from homecoming this year qualified for an SS1000, but I didn't get receipts. I really didn't plan on going 400 miles out of my way, but NW Arkansas was too big of a temptation to pass up! |

did a box trip(look at the map, big rectangle) to colorado and back-louisiana to el paso,tx to buena vista,co to kansas city, ks back to louisiana. 1700 there, 1600 back with 700 on site in CO over the weekend for the S2 gathering. i put another used isolator on the s2 before i left due to a crack in the rubber on the one installed. do a good inspection during the weeks before you go and you shouldn't have any unusual problems besides getting tired. get your buddy to do the same. even if you have issues on the trip it will make for good memories. have fun tim |

Same as Smoke. 1730 miles to CO for the S2 gathering. This is the first documented attempt (Hopefully they accept my submission. The odometer cable broke not quite halfway into the trip.). There have been several other trips in the 1,000 to 1,550 mile range that I didn't document. Go ahead and try it! The only way you'll ever know is to give it a try. You can "what if" yourself to the grave. At least you have someone to ride with in case you need assistance. |

they have a multitude of different qualifying events but the very first one needs to be a saddlesore 1000 in 24 or bunburner 1500 in 36. i had attempted a bb gold 1500 in 24 but didn't plan on a few extra stops for counseling in tx. missed it by 2 hrs. next year. tim |

Yea, I will do it. It's not high on my priority list. I wondered if any one here had done it. If I had kept the gas receipts from when I bought the S3 in Texas and rode it home to Kansas, I'd have a SaddleSore already, since I didn't take the most direct route home. And I'd rather do it on a trip like Buffalobolt did. (Message edited by Drhacknstine on August 03, 2009) |

I did the saddlesore on my Honda Hawk GT. It was an interesting experience. My brother has done the same basic route a few times on his S3 and I had high hopes of pulling off another with my M2, but I'm just not sure I trust it (or myself) enough yet. Worse part was zonking out for two hours in Connecticut at around 2-5 a.m. It was freaking COLD and I wasn't prepared for it at all. I ended up under a picnic table, more than a little paranoid, but completely exhausted. Got my second wind after that and it wasn't bad at all. Randy |
