Yes, I searched, but I want to be sure how to support my bikes when tackling putting on the 'Y' bracket. My X1 needs the upgrade, my 02' M2 had it taken off (putting it back on). Do I support the bike with a rear wheel stand or hang the rear from the rafters. Exactly where do I place the 'bottle' jack to relieve the rear shock pressure (is it just as pictured in the Buell bulletin)? |

Just use a tie down strap it's easier |

When I replaced my shock I hung the tail end with some straps from the rafters. On my X1, the bolts were easy enough to take out and out back in at full suspension drop- I just needed to lift the rear a hair as I pushed in the final bolt. |

Prey, can you explain the tie down strap procedure? I have plenty of those.... |

You run the ratcheting tie downs (I use two just in case) over a rafter or a sturdy step ladder and somewhere secure on the rear (or front if you need you lift the front) being careful not to crush any wires or other components (CF undertail on the X1) and ratchet it up. Much more stable than using a jack. |

Another option is to prop the back of the bike up on jack stands under the passenger peg brackets if you haven't got any rafters handy. I dropped my bike once trying to rock it up onto the stands so more recently I tried putting it up on my rear wheel stand first, then just switching over to the jack stands - much easier and safer. Used a 5/8th board to lift the rear tire a bit for alignment on the bolt holes. |

I propped my bike with a 2 x 4 under the footpeg and placed a floor jack under the motor. |

i used a rear swing arm jack stand and the bottle jack (i actually used a 2.5 ton floor jack) just as pictured in the instructions. No problems what so ever. Eeasy beezy. |
