Hey - Looking for some advice. Lost spark last week, worked backwards from the plugs to coil, to sensor plate, finally removed sensor plate to find the timing gear that controls the ignition isn't turning when I hit the starter. I have compression in both cylinders. What does this mean? Is motor FUBAR? What do I do now?

Buellistic - thanks for the help. I havent had an issue this bad yet - part and service manual are on the way - local harley store didnt have them in stock. I have the Sensor plate removed from the cam case (old sensor plate electronics looked melted). I put in a new sensor plate - still no spark then realized the timing cup/timing rear does not turn at all when starter is pushed. Next step is to remove the cam case cover but I'm wondering if the problem is isolated to inside the cam case or if I have bigger problems like a busted crank.

and you are sure the pistons are moving correct?

If not pull the primary first, it is a lot easier and you can see if the chain is broke, crank broke, etc...

then pill the cam side and check thee crank and cam drive gear...

Shapem2:

If you pull the cam gear cover, "BE SURE" to take the VALVE SPRING tension off the cams by removing the rocker arm covers ...

The reason"i" say this is "i" have a son-in-law that is FAA certified to work on airplanes and he did just that ...

Need less to say "i" would not fly on any airplane that he touched ...
