How many people have actually had this break on them? i suspect mine has. If i tap the primary cover with a rubber mallet i can hear something metal bouncing around in there. Any other ideas what it could be? I ordered the updated version and gaskets yesterday.

but the thing is i just adjusted it to spec according to the fsm and it has been 80 miles since i did that. It did sound better for awhile but the noise came back again.

If it breaks, it becomes a horror story! The primary chain starts to self destruct, filling the primary case with metal shavings. This destroys the charging system and fills the trans with those filings. If not caught immediately, the output bearing will fail with very bad results to the internal workings of the trans. Ask me how I know...
