2000 X1 26,000 miles Over the past few months I've notice my motor misses or hic-cups in regular traffic... 1st to 2nd/2nd to 3rd gears low rpm to quick acceleration. Only happens when I'm loading up on the throttle. Example: leaving a stop light or entering a freeway. The drive belt tension is correct, so I'm ruleing out belt slip, plug wires are conected at the plugs and coil, so I dont thinks its ignition. I dont think its clutch slip, because this feels more like a stutter, than a lack of engangement from a fried clutch. Really miffed about this one because a friend (HD Tech) said this is an occurance that happens with Old Buells and Sporty's. He doesnt know why... it just does, and there's nothing wrong? Anybody have a remedy or know something different? |

Last time I had this issue an air filter change cleared it up for me. |

Intake leaks or sensors going out. Head temp sensor is a problem sensor. Most of the time when you upgrade the exhaust or intake with the factory ECM you will have these problems. If the bike is stock and doing this i would look at intake seals, throttle body seal and injector seals, o-rings. Even the exhaust gasket's and possibly o2 sensor is going out. The intake seals should be changed out every 2 years. |

Mine runs great but bucks around a lot under 3k rpm.. If there is a solution I sure haven't found it. Simple fix: don't ride below 3k rpm. |

Dont ride below 3K rpm... I like that. I freshened up the air filter two weeks ago, issue was there before and after??? I had some repairs done to the front head when I had to fish broken bolts out from the head/front motor mount. I replaced the intake(and throtle body, and injector) seals then, that was last fall. The bike always returns to idle as it should, so I dont suspect the intake, but I will spray some chemical and double check for a leak. The bike does have the CF race ham/can air cleaner, I bounced back and forth from a stock header/wilyco exhaust combo to a Kooks/D&D combo. Stock ECM. This issue reared its head when I still had the wilyco set-up, so...? If its sensors, guess I should hope it is, I'll run the VDSTS on it? |
