I've got handlebars from an X1, and from an S3T available for a 97 S3 project. I've got no issues with the comfort of the X1 bars - I've done quite a few 500 mile days on my X1 with no complaints, but I'm sure that the (lack of) windscreen helps keep weight off my wrists at highway speed due to all the wind. If I went with the X1 bars behind the S3's fairing would I notice a lot more weight on my wrists? OR if I go with the S3T bars is that gonna put me in such an upright position that my head is above the protection level of the fairing? If I have to choose between the two - I'd rather have weight on my wrists rather than turbulence on my helmet. Anyways.. if anyone has experience with the different bars and windscreen/fairing options I'd appreciate your input. |

I have an M2 with an S3 fairing on it. I'm still running the M2 bars. I am really not bent over what-so-ever. It's more of a pretty neutral seating position. I have a zero gravity windshield, and from the looks of it, I think it provides a lot more wind protection up higher than the stock windshield. It kind of flares up and the top, and I don't think the stock ones do that. Right now the wind is right at the top of my helmet, but I am only 5'8", so that may be a coincidence. It still seems that the bars are a little bit low. I am going to be purchasing some S3T/Blast bars in the near future. I think they will raise my hands up a little bit more and be pretty comfortable. When I do this I don't think it will affect how upright my position is, it will just move my hands up a little bit. |

I'm 6 foot and with the stock bars and the stock screen I'm still in some wind. I like to tour -- so a more upright position was more important to me than being completely out of the wind. I kept the stock bars and bought the bar risers from American Sport Bike. They are a quality product. On long rides I'll switch it up and lay down on the tank -- Takes me out of the wind completely and is a nice change of pace -- It is a little hard staying near legal western speeds however in this Speed Racer mode. |

If you decide to not use the T bars I would interested in buying them. The stock S3 bars twist my wrist inward too much for me. Or perhaps you would want to try the S3 low bars for a swap? mark61 |

AFAIK the X1 bars I have are exactly the same as low S3 bars. My X1 bars already have controls and grips installed, but the S3T bars are bare, so I'll just give the lower bars a shot before messing with moving controls over to the T bars. If I don't end up using the T bars, they'll be listed on here. But with everything going on right now, it will probably be at least this fall before I get started on putting the S3 together. |

S3, X1, M2, and S1W bars are the same. Blast and S3T bars are the same. The original S1 bars are not shared with any other model and are the most aggressive. |

I changed from my S3 bars to the T bars and it does set you upright more. I'm 6'2" with my height in my torso so the change was more dramatic then people properly proportioned. Joe |

I just changed from the stock upright S3 bars to the more aggresive S1 bars. I find the S1 to be a lot more comfortable on my 6'1" body when I lean on the tank for variation on a long ride. The S1 bars help keep me in a more aggressive riding stance too. |
