Just a simple matter of 2" bolts , alittle work with a file and of course the handlebar clamp from a XB and there ya have it. Raises it about 1" from stock and with a piece of flat stock with the holes drilled in the right place, you can also move the bars back another 1" or so. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll105/4DWUDS/BuellBarRiser.jpg?t=1245535729 (Message edited by 4dwuds on June 20, 2009) |

I got this idea here awhile back also. I milled a top cap flat and used stainless spacers and longer stainless bolts plus the length of rise is determined by the spacer length. Make sure you use a neverseize product for the bolts. (Dissimilar metals)

OK so black is a faster color than silver/aluminum??? Yet you can ask my kids, heck any of my relation, what is the FASTEST Color in this universe and they will always say RED. Good humor EH. |

Are you making these and selling them? If so I am interested. I recently picked up some Clubman bars to test them on the M2, the problem is they are too low so they dont clear the the forks. With a rise they should clear everything on the fork and fit, although I am still skeptical if they will provide any turning radius or if they will just hit the tank. |

You can buy the handlebar clamp from any Buell dealer in either the faster Black or the Aluminum color for about $25. It's just a matter or a little file work to flatten down the mounting surface and 4 longer bolts. And add some spacers like Buell Bert did and the rise is up to your imagination. It looks to me like those homegrown systems lose the clamping ability, functioning simply as spacers. Looks to me like you've got your bars held on by 4 spindly cap screws going into shallow aluminum threads. Al has some nice 1" risers that are precisely machined to fill the entire space where the bars go on the lower clamp. At 40 bucks, they're not that much more than these "cheap risers," imo the machined risers look cleaner... more importantly the structural integrity of an integrated clamping system remains intact. Just my .01. I used to run apes on my knuckle chopper... that yellow softail just looks plain fugly to me. Dude definitely has his arms up there tho. |

I would imagine the force clamping down on the bottom riser is the same as if you were tightening it down to the top of the triple tree. As long as everything sits flush the home made riser should work fine. |

I have a few miles on mine and the clamping is fine so far. And yes they are spacers/risers/ etc. Who really is the mother of invention. We are. Some of us just like to make things. And I used to have high bars on my 74 chopper. |
