My siver '98 S1W has corroding ugly paint bubbles, mostly at the back of the tank. I know this is a common thing. HD tells me that it's past it's recall. I'd love to strip it and paint it, but just cant afford it right now. So far I've been able to stomach looking at the disgusting bubbles on my clean bike. I've cut them out with an exacto, then put stickers on bare plastic. Stickers have most of the decay covered, but that's not good enough for my bike. Tough times mean that I need to find a cheep solution. Anyone got some recommendations? Know where yo get the OEM Buell tank patch decal? Does anyone make a bikini style cover that would fit. |

There used to be a tank bra from Buell, that would cover the majority of the rear of the tank. Won't cover the letters...but it won't hurt. An ebay search or a check of the classifieds here may turn one up. I got lucky a couple years ago and found a NIB 'recall tank' for my S1W and bought it off the 'bay. My stocker bubbled and looked like it had leprosy. The recall tank is even being weird - it's got this funky crackle-glaze thing happenin. No peel or blister, just the crackling. <shrug> I can claim it's "original, never painted" at bike shows, LOL. |

How 'bout putting the thick self adhesive letters from the newer bikes on there, they will still be raised a bit and should look pretty clean. They aren't too expensive from a dealership. |
