I was thinking about getting a Corbin, Gunfighter and Lady seat for my 01' x1. It is pretty expensive and I was needing some input before I shell out that kinda money. My stock seat SUCKS!!!! I rode the wall a few weeks ago and I would have traded my bike for a nice comfy bus ticket home. So please let me know how comfortable the Corbin is and any other things I may need to know. Thanks Guys, I am new to the site and I just think it is great. Everyone is very helpful. Thanks alot, Matt Tully

Yeah that is a lot of money and the difference is night and day with the Corbin seat. Some folks here on bad web have made there own but i dont think it was as good as the corbin.

the corbin seat is wider than the stock seat. I feel like i slide around more on the corbin than the stock seat. I only use mine when i'm 2 up riding due to the backrest. My friend has one on his bike and loves it. He is also a few inches taller and several pounds heavier than me. I'm 5' 11" and 200lbs. My butt still hurt on long rides with the corbin. You just need to HTFU

What lovedabueller said Harden The F**K Up.. I was just kidding about that. It is just the more i got used to riding my x-1.. the less my ass hurt..450 miles on any bike in one day would make a persons ass hurt. unless it is a geezer glide.

For comfort, upgrading from the stock seat to a corbin on an X1 is worth the price.

If you're not in a "must have it NOW" hurry, look around in the 'for sale' section, ebay, etc. and see if you can't find a gently used seat for less than new price.

Yea not in a hurry so I have time to try and find a gently used one. Tom_b, I guess that is a good point, 450 miles on any bike is gonna hurt. Didnt really consider that. Thanks guys.

I really like the Corbin on my S3T, I also have the backrest to keep the wife more comfortable. I special ordered my seat, because the first standard seat I bought had me sitting back too far, so I had them make one up with the rider seat pocket further forward.

I don't ride a tuber, but putting a Corbin seat on my Blast made all the difference in the world. Sucked spending 500 clams on a seat for a 3K bike...but I can ride as far as I want now without getting money butt.

I bought a used Corbin with a backrest when my wife started riding with me again. I like the more rearward seating position because I have long legs and arms and it puts me right where everything feels natural. I would probably not pay the price for a new one. They are very pricey, but there aren't that many options left for our tubers.

"Ummm. my fatm2 gunfighter does fine for 500-700 mile days" Guell if you can do 9 hrs on a bike in a day without being sore, your one tough SOB. 500 mile at 70 mph average ads up to over 6 1/2 straight hours of seat time. 700 miles at 70 mph average is 10 hrs..It isn't so much to do with the seat or bike as it is to with the rider being used to long rides on a particular bike.

I've ridden a 1,000 mile day on the stock seat on my X1. I affectionately refer to that one as "nut crusher".

I've since bought the corbin (gunfighter and lady) and done a couple 1,000 mile days on that. It makes a huge difference to me. The arse pain still is there after 200 miles, but it doesn't get worse as it does on the stock seat.

The corbin reminds me of a horse saddle, in that it is wider and it actually feels less padded than the stocker initially.

My only bitch is that you can't move around too much as there is a ridge in the seat. Other than that I'd recommend it for any longer distance riding.

Other people have used the Buell accessory seat and like that. I believe it was made by travelcade. I haven't used one so I can't comment, they do pop up in the classifieds from time to time or ebay

I dunno tom, I just get on and do it. The m2 seat is more forgiving than a x1 seat though.

It might just be that im young and dumb too haha.

I've got a Corbin on my 99 S3(T)and have over 50K seat miles. When you think about it, the seat is the most important rideability upgrade you can make. You spend a couple of hundred dollars for a race ECM to fix that stumble that happens under certain circumstances, but your butt is always in the saddle.

I bought a Corbin with backrest for my '99 S3T back in 2001. I hated that seat. It was too firm and not comfortable. I tried to sell it but was unable to find a buyer. I then heard that Corbin would re-foam the seat with a softer foam for FREE. I sent it back last year and had it refoamed...I LOVE THIS SEAT. This is the most comfortable, well made seat that I've ever ridden on. I can't believe how much of a difference that Corbin's soft foam made. Most people don't know that Corbin has foam firmness options but they do. I wouldn't take any amount of money for this seat now. FYI.

How do you know what kind of foam you have? It seems like my corbin seat is really firm too, my butt would def appreciate an upgrade. They did actually re-foam it for free?

I had a Corbin and it took so long to break in, I sold it and purchased a Sargent Custom seat instead. It has proven to be more comfortable for me.

Nicholas, I'm not making this up. Corbin calls it their "soft" foam and yes, if you have the original receipt, they will re-foam it for free. No kidding.

Ride safe,

Frank
