Like you, I could never find a good or proper removal technique for the old seal. I don't want to put self tapping screws in there & risk getting any shaving inside the crankcase. You pried it out with the pry bar heel against the crankshaft?! Maybe it will come out easier than I think. I do have the ' 96 S1 FSM, very well used, but have never found anything about removing that seal. Maybe I will make a puller just for that. But not before I get the new seal in hand! |

buy a couple of seals....they are cheap, and you can return the spare if things go well. i believe i may have used a small L-foot pry bar. was a while back and i don't remember exactly. sorry, didn't mean the fsm had any procedures for the seal removal, but i think it does have some info on installing the new seal. |

i gently drill a #30 hole in the seal flat part and screw a sheetmetal screw in the hole. grab the screw with some big pliers and jerk the seal out. you can also use a small slide hammer to pull the seal out using the screw to pull on. looks like you have yours done already though. tim |

8 to 10 days is a bit tough. I don't know where you live but my stuff from Al at American Sport Bike gets to the far side of Australia in 5 to 7 days by USPS. Can't complain about that. |

sometime i take a lot for granted when it comes to working on my bike. i have the world's best buell dealer here in my little county of 120,000. bar and shield awards out the ass, cause they try to do everything right. that includes events for buell owners, a surprisingly large amount of tuber parts in stock, and the willingness to help solve problems, whether advice from technicians, phone calls to aftermarket vendors, or special orders. the fact that you have to order things and wait for them to arrive, instead of riding 10 minutes to go pick them up brought me back to reality |
