When I am under 3000 rpms, and I go wide open throttle (WOT), my bike falls flat on its face. Also, when I am in 3-5 gears, and go WOT above 3000 rpms it does great until about 5300 rpms then it acts like it is red lining when it isnt there yet. If I go 3/4 throttle it will go all the way to actual red line. It also runs very rich. Other than that it runs great. My bike has a Force Streetfighter Exhaust, and Race ECM, and a Power Commander III. I was thinking of taking the PC off and using the ECM Spy, but, I tried just straight unhooking the PC and it would start. I am also not all that computer savy and was scared about using the ECM spy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Any other engine mods? I'd be tempted to try it without the Power Commander if you can, just the race ECM and see how it runs before messing with ECM Spy. |

No, thats the only engine mods that I can see. I bought the bike used and as far as I can see thats all. No other bolt on's I am positive. I thought I would do what you suggested too. But when I unhooked the PC from the battery, cause that was the only way to unhook it, it was wired in directly. It wouldnt run at all, so thats out of the question. Any more sugguestions. Thanks for the reply. |

trace the wires for the PC. They plug inline with the injectors- up at the throttle body. you need to disconnect there and reconnect the factory wires to the injectors. yank that thing outta there and throw it away! it is worthless on our bikes. |

If the PC is like a Teclusion you will have disconnect the PC from the o2 sensor and the injectors for it to start and run, just unhooking the battery won't take it out of the loop so to speak. |

I've yet to hear ANYTHING positive about a PC on a Tuber. Completely disconnect the thing, reset TPS, and see how she runs with just the race ECM. She still might require more tuning, but I'm betting you'll get better throttle response than what you have now. |

When I bought my X1 in was doing a similar thing. All my problem was gummed up injectors. The bike had been sitting. Added some injector cleaner (sea foam, the only cleaner that’s ever worked for me) In one tank it was fine. |

Buelleaver: Where did you add the Sea Foam? I was told with my old truck to add it to a full gas tank before changing the oil? |

Thanks for the help guys, P_squared, I will try doing that, but how do I reset the TPS??? I am not sure how to reset it. And if I do just totally unhook the PC, will my bike definitly run or could that cause even more promblems. Buelleaver, my bike also set for about a year before I bought it, I may try using some injector cleaner. Injector cleaner wont hurt my bike will, I have heard that it isnt very good for your motor but I dont know. Thanks for the help guys keep it coming. For a TPS reset, you'll either need ECMSpy or your dealer. If it were me, and I were to have the dealer do the reset, I'd ride the bike there & then remove the PC in the lot before the reset. It 'might' run after the removal & before the reset, but why chance it? A shot of seafoam to clean the injectors isn't a bad idea either. Here's a good read on Seafoam: http://www.webbikeworld.com/sea-foam/ |

The Force exhaust is a bit of a beyotch to tune as well. It HATES anything under 3000 RPM (which, ironically, does not seem to be your problem!). Does your O2 sensor have 1 wire or 4? If 4, then you will need a new, factory style 1 wire sensor as well- to obtain the full "benefit" of the PC, a 4 wire was needed to be installed. About $20 from any auto parts store. My suggestion? - get an ECM Spy cable. It's not so scary, there's a good tuning guide online, and you have this community to help. For less than the price of 1 TPS reset, you will be able to do them over and over again for free. - yank the PC - replace O2 sensor if needed - reset TPS - run the sea foam - see how it does, and go from there Here's my reasoning: you have a known faulty product on your bike (PC), and possibly a dirty throttle body/injectors. Start there, with the easy and cheap stuff. |

Thanks andymnelson, but about the force exhaust, my problem is also under 3 grand as well. I cant go WOT under 3 grand or it falls on its face. As well as WOT at about 5300 rpm. Can you tell me where the online tuning guide is for the ecm spy. Also, do I have to reset the TPS when I take the PC off. I was thinking about yanking it out like was mentioned before and wiring it back stock, then if that didnt work, just hook it back up so I could still ride. Then maybe go to the ECM spy. Also, my bike runs very rich, and I think that is due to the PC. |

ecmspy.com - dig around a little, everything you need is there. In theory, yes you do need a TPS reset when you take it off. You MIGHT be able to run it without one, but it likely won't run well. What makes you think its running rich? It is highly unlikely. Our ECMs are designed to maintain a specific Air/Fuel ratio (the reason that the PC doesn't work- it adds fuel, the ECM removes fuel to maintain the A/F ration...net effect is a big fat ZERO). And in fact, it is much more likely that you are running quite lean with the Force pipe, because the fueling system can not compensate properly for it. I really thin that you need an ECM Spy cable, then remove the PC, reset the TPS, then we can use ECM Spy to look at what your ECM is doing. It doesn't need to be intimidating, since you don't have to make changes right now, just be able to read what it's doing. Oh, did I mention that you should get an ECM Spy cable and remove the PC? Cuz you should definitely do that. |

Yea, I think you may have said to remove the PC and get the ECM spy. It may sound crazy that it is running rich, but it is DEFINITLY running rich. You can tell by the smell, you smell gas when it is idiling, which tells me that it is able to burn all of it that it is getting??? What do you think? |

Blackandchrome, I just added to the gas as per instructions plus an ounce or 2 extra. They claim you can also add it to the crank case to free up stuck valves, clean carbon, ect. But that’s a last ditch old school type of thing. I wouldn’t want to try that. |

Not necessarily, bur possible. If the PC is out of there, and we had access to ECM Spy we could see some of what the ECM is doing and know some of that. You can go old school and pull a plug and read it to see if it's rich or not. Also, is your O2 sensor 1 wire or 4 wire? |

Not sure about the O2 sensor, but I think it is a 4 wire, I will check later and post that info tonight or tommorrow. Thanks for all the help everyone. |

The PC has no affect on the TPS. All it does is add/reduce fuel per the fuel map it contains based on the injector pulse width and frequency coming from the ECM. You should not need to reset your TPS when you remove the PC. That said, an improper TPS offset can screw up your part throttle performance, so if you have any doubt about it being set correctly, you should get it done. |

I'm with Andymnelson here. Good advice and a TPS reset won't hurt a bit. |

That still sounds like my bike when the injectors clogged. It seemed rich and the plugs were real wet. What I think was happening with mine, with the clog, the fuel spraying from the injector didn’t vaporize like it should, and it just kind of ran into the cylinders . Incomplete mix, incomplete combustion. |

I also agree with andy.. toss the power commander and do a tps reset. A good friend had one on his x-1. Never ran right for very long. removed it, didn't run right till he did a tps reset. Now runs fine. Or as fine as an x-1 can |
