Just changed the oil, and backed up into the driveway to park it while I cleaned up and then go for a little warm up ride. Leaned to the left, and 'OH S#%&' the sidestand wasn't down. Down she went. Laid "gently" on the left side, S. O. A. B.! I thought sure the tank and tail would be all scuffed, things broken, etc. But only a tiny scuff to my knurled bar-end, and one on the end of my billet Storz rear footpeg. And the big hit: Banke shifter bent into a sideways banana. S.O.A.B.!! Only a few months old, custom made for me by Mr. Banke because he'd stopped making the SKA-10. It was like $160, and now it's all flopsy and bendy. Why, oh why, don't they come with a spring-loaded toe peg, like dirt bikes? That's what I'm putting on it next, if I have to have it custom made. Crap, it has been running so well, and the weather today was perfect. Now I believe it, I'd always doubted the "garage tip-over" on used bikes I see for sale, but now I see for myself how easy... | ||

my bike has done it all by its self before. I learned quickly not to walk away form my bike when it is warming up because it like to back its self of of the kickstand. | ||

I had it happen but it needed my Grandsons help. The bike was in the garage and if I was out there I'ld let him sit on it. There was no way he could tip it over by climbing up and sitting on it. Well one day I was gone and the Little Guy, my Daughter and here friend were home. They heard a crash and ran out to the garage and found (from front to rear) my bike on its left side taking a rest, the dogs poop shovel, and the Little Guy just standing there. Since the Buell side stands do not lock when down like some others He must have went outside and got the shovel and wedged it behind the rear tire and lifted it up which made the bike roll forward. Sidestand goes up, bike goes down.The Little Guy must have learned because he is almost 5 now and he hasn't done it since. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. | ||

My daughter dropped mine on the pipe side , and just left it , fairly obvious what happened tho. Luckily it just bent the brake lever. | ||

That's a bummer Jackie. You can straighten out the Banke shift arm pretty well with a rag and a mallet, they're tough. Just hope nothing inside the primary took a hit.... | ||

Yeah, my two little girls always want to sit on the motorcycle, the older one sometimes climbs it when I'm not looking. Took it just up the block, still seems to run, shift, ride like pretty much as before. The clutch lever is bent into a semi-circle too, so the engagement is weird, but still able to shift it. Guess I'll just remove the peg relocators, go back to the SKA-03, see how much side play is still there. If it's all good, I can take my time flattening out the SKA-10, maybe send it back to Banke and add the folding toe-peg. I looked at the Ulysses models, they don't seem to have it, but every dirt bike I've seen for 20 years has them. One would think 'stunters' would have developed some street bike folding shifter toe-pegs by now. | ||

I almost did the same thing. Started the bike, went to take off, and remembered something I forgot, so I hopped of the bike ,leaned it over as I was stepping away, but it didn’t stop. Didn’t put the stand back down. I caught it on it’s way down. Held it for what seemed like forever, before I managed to pull it back up. It took just about all I had to stop it from hitting the ground. | ||

I dropped mine on it's left side right in front of a dealer before. To make a long story short, I was working 10p-6a and by 1p that day, there was still a check engine light that the dealer hadn't figured out so I was tired + pissed. Climbed off the bike and never thought about the kickstand. The fall snapped the footpeg off the shifter and put a few small vertical scratches in the chin fairing. Sure was embarrassing telling the service dept, "I've still got that check engine light, and I'll be needing a new shifter to boot." Oh well, such is life. These bikes seem to hold up well to occasional abuse like that. | ||

It's harder to do and more exciting with a running gas hose sticking in the gas tank. Don't ask me how I know.  | ||

been there the third week I had my 01 M2L...Broke the rear turn signal and the shifter peg. I was able to use a bolt and the rubber on it from the broken peg. Gives it that buell tough look. All better and would not even notice it now... | ||

Yea, my grandkids love to crawl all over it too. Watch 'em like a hawk, eh? How 'bout forgetting the disc lock on the front wheel or does that change the string? It was a "driveway" scene. Luckily, I was just easing out the clutch. Think it yanked the bars outta' my hands and dropped on the right side. Man, it happened so fast! Just standing over the bike wonderin' what happened. Landed on the CF ham can. Just put a small scratch on it. That thing is paper thin and doesn't weigh an ounce! Can you imagine if I had the rpm's up? I don't use the lock anymore....... I was up at Alice's Restaurant up in the hills above Stanford University for a group ride one time. The lot at Alice's has a good grade to it and I backed down onto the flat section in neutral. Waited for the group to go, started up the bike, picked up my feet and hit the gas..... uh, still in neutral, duh! Promptly fell to the right side (low side) and couldn't tough down, so it was a sloooooow semi-drop. Perfect location as there were probably 50+ riders present LOL!
