ok.. i have an 2001 X1 Lighting, and when i bought it (used) of course it had a slight hesitation to just coming out of 2500rpm.. but recently its been having major hesitations to it pretty much all the way through. It also burns oil like none other and dumps more than usual in my over flow. haha and the last thing ive been having problems with is the idle, it idles fine when i start it up and ride.. but when i turn it off go do something then come back it will not idle for the life of me... Now i know that's a lot of problems, but before i got it some nut-case mechanic bent one of the values. so it does have a little engine work to it... soo if anyone has ANY suggestions on what I might wanna look for before I rip her all apart. please have at it thank you Rufio06 |

When was the last time the TPS and AFV was reset. Like PK asked "Got a Forcewinder intake?" It's known to cause problems with the Intake Air Temp sensor. |

On the Oil consumption issue. You may not be burning oil at all. You need to check the primary side crank seal. What happens here is the seal leaks allowing engine oil to flow into the primary, which then pukes out from the primary vent. The primary vent is in the right rear part of the aluminum tailpiece. You'll see oil dripping all down the right side of the rear fender To determine if this is the issue, check the primary fluid level, fill up the oil tank (1/2 way on the dipstick after a 5 -10 mile ride). Then check the primary fluid again after a 10 mile ride, if it went up, the crank seal is leaking. Lots of stuff in the KV on this one, search for "crank seal" or "primary seal" here's one |

no i have a K&N intake.. and im not to sure(TPS and AFV), probably not for a good while. |

K&N dosen't make an intake for the X1. They make the hi-flow stock replacement and also make the filter for the Forcewinder. Do you still have the factory intake box or is it a 90deg tube stick out the side of the motor? Check the "Storm Front" section and see if there is anyone near you who has ECM Spy. They can hook it up to the bike and do the resets also pull any codes you have. As for the dead spot around 2500rmp it's common with the stock ecm programing. I updated my ecm programing with a race program and it cured that problem. |

If you look at the dyno charts for a stock X1, you will see a "dip" in the torque curve right around 2800-3400 RPM. Most aftermarket exhausts along with with Race ECM fuel maps will fix that issue. |

I still have a little hesitation blip at about 2500 rpm, but only in third gear or higher. |
