Looks good. Now I can't decide if I want to go billet or CF.

Does that cover the stock dash or is it stand alone?

It did not cover the stock dash for me. Lowroad used it as stand alone. Bike looks great Carbonlightning!! Nothing like a little Carbon Fiber, but I am curious. Whats with the stock fender. I would think you would have either the carbon fiber undertail or rear fender?!? LOL

Buy the way, have you ever had one of those projects where you had parts left over ?!? Me too. I wonder where they go!?!

Haha, yeah i have all the stock artic white plastice, seat, airbox, scoop, and some other misc. stuf left over too. lol Hey cut me some slack carbon isnt cheap. im working on the carbon undertail, hugger, and drive cover. If you feel so bad you can lend me your cf undertail... I used it as stand alone, because of course it doesnt fit over the stock dash correctly. and yes superglue trick worked great lowroad thanks. Hopefully it being all by itself it will hold up even with agressive riding and a few wheelies inbetween. lol but it seemed to shake and move about the same as the stock dash so its not like its got a ton of play in it for it to move far or hard enough to snap i hope.... knock on wood.

They say Carbon Fiber is stronger than steel so you shouldn't have any problems. Boy, your right about Carbon Fiber being expensive. I got lucky and found my undertail on craigs list brand new and saved quite a bit of money from buying new from American Sport Bike.

Hmmmm...so the carbon dash is strong enough to be a stand alone piece? I may have to check on that once I get this bike back together. I just got my CF derby cover and timing cover from American Sport Bike a few weeks ago.

You won't find the carbon fiber dash at American sport bike (I'm not sure why). I got it on eBay from China. I think the company was called East Carbon (If I remember correctly).

Thanks for the info guys. My tank accents from East Carbon are paper thin and I was wondering if the dash was the same way. My biggest concern was that it would shake it's self apart and crack at the bottom.

I think Scarecrow has sold me on the billet dash. I am working on a lead for one right now. I've spent way too many hours polishing parts on the bike to stop now.

I've got about 500 miles on mine as a stand alone piece. So far, so good. It will not work as a "cover". I am pretty sure it's designed to be a stand alone, and just grossly mislabeled as a cover.

Well that answers that question. I checked e-bay and saw one on there from east carbon and didn't see one at American Sport Bike. There was a thread here just recently talking about how bad the carbon work from east carbon was. What do you guys think of the quality of east carbon? I have a few of Al's pieces and they're top notch.

I sent the underseat piece back to East Carbon because it didn't have the mounting tab on it and I didn't feel like improvising but the quality of the carbon fiber looked ok. The dash was thin but it also looked very nice. How it stands up under use I don't know.

MDI is pretty crappy carbon fiber. East carbon is marginally better. most folks have had little trouble with east's stuff. MDI has a much worse rap. The dash is not available from American Sport Bike, only from east.

Al's stuff is vastly superior to both in every conceivable way.

I don't know how long Al and Joann have had American Sport Bike but when I called years ago to order the under seat panel the person told me that their guy did the carbon for the CF edition Buells and for an extra 10% they'd match the color and weave. When I got the piece it was an exact match to everything else. Where it's under the seat and not in the sun it has faired much better than the stuff on top. I've got one piece that is grey instead of blue but it's down low so it's not real noticeable by anyone but me.
