Anyone know where I can get squares (in varying sizes) of raw billet? A buddy of mine has a lathe and a bunch of tools and start building some one-off parts for my S2. I think I'll start with a shifter that doesn't snag my pants and a new brake pedal... |

I go to a scrap metal dealer near the airport. (Lots of aluminum on planes.) Check out my profile pic for the shifter I made using a drill press as a milling machine. (Message edited by Sportyeric on May 08, 2009) |

yeah that's the idea. After my stock shifter with worn bushing caught my $60 jeans, ripped them, and made me drop the bike to the left at a stop light, I don't want a boomerang shifter anymore... |

Posted the only pic I have quite a while ago here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/8061.html?996434688#POST69784 Basically stole the design from Banke but adjusted the pedal length for the application. The trick to the splines is to cut off a shifter shaft, sharpen it on a lathe, and ram it through with a press. That was the hard part. |

W.W. Grainger also sells aluminum in different sizes/shapes/alloys...flat/plate/rod/etc the T6061-T6 is a good general and durable material...I use it for most motorcycle widgets like spacers, footpegs, braces and brackets.. |
