The wheels are going to the shop tomorrow for new rubber and bearings. I thought I had some brake pads for the rear but must have used them on the other S2. First mistake! Second mistake was changing the rear isolators and forgetting to pull the primary cover to adjust the primary chain. Looks like I will be taking the isolator plate off again. Damn it! Well I am done for the day anyway. I really hate trying to get the front brake caliper off and on!

How does everyone else manage to get the front caliper off?....I usually end up removing the disc bobbins and removing the disc from the carrier....there seems to be no way of removing the caliper otherwise. |

Lacy, what I do is remove the pads and make sure the pistons are seated and work it out gently. I would like to hear how others do it as well. I guess I should read the service manual. Frank |

How does everyone else manage to get the front caliper off? I took the pads out and and then prayed while I wiggled the caliper around and until I found the sweet spot and it came out. I put a piece of fleece fabric between the caliper and wheel while I did the wiggling too. Putting it back was the same process. |

Frank- Why are you needing to pull the primary cover just to adjust the primary chain? |

I like to take a look to make sure the adjustment shoe is in good shape. But your right. Normally, or I should say a normal person would not have to do this but I have little confidence in the plastic shoe. I am getting a noise under load that is real hard to explain. I want to check the easy things first. |

Frank, Is that the S2T? I bet it hasn't been that far tore down since it left Ohio. I am glad to see you are still enjoying it. Makes me sad Enjoy! Hope to find another soon. Eric |

Eric, yes it is your old bike. Still enjoying it is an understatement. Without a doubt this bike was built just for me. I get more joy from this bike than any other. I hope you find another as well Eric. I was just thinking about my trip out to Ohio to pick her up. I hope I do not do that again anytime soon. Do you still have the S1? |

I still have the S1W. I just painted all the bodywork a Black Pearl. The original paint developed the dreaded bubbling of the decals on the tank and a rabbit took out my front fender. I still plan on painting another set of bodywork the Molten Orange again. I had trouble getting a color match from Dupont on the orange. I will try it according to Buell paint specs the next time.

Somebody had a good sugestion along time ago for removing the caliper. Remove the pads, put masking tape on the rim to avoid any unwanted marks. Mine comes out every time like that. Depending on the pad thickness you might have to push in the pistons. |

Well she is almost all back together save the body work. I went to hit the started and got one click from the starter relay so tomorrow I will trouble shoot the starter and connections. Most likely it is a bad ground. New brake pads, new tires, new wheel bearings, new isolators, repacked the muffler, re wired the tail section, polished the exhaust, and replaced the header flanges. I also had the bleed the brakes and replace the primary chain adjustment shoe. The only thing left is to replace the air cleaner back plate and of course get her started.

Its been quite a while since i posted any pic's on here..but as my boy is napping and spring has sprung i though i would put up a couple i took last fall before she took the long winters nap..
i dont remember if i posted any of her with the braced swing arm on.. think last time i posted it still had the al swing arm and long shock leaking like mad. i changed the swing arm and shock at the same time, added new rubber mounts front and rears.

Aaron, is that a Pure One filter? Looks like mine except not the oversized one. I run a Purolator Pure One PL-30001. It barely fits but makes it a true 3 qt system. |

Got her put back together today and took her out for a spirited 30 mile ride.
I added something I did not plan to and that was a license plate frame. I wired it up to come on with the brake lights.
Now I have to get to work on this.

Hey jay, I did get the decals. Thanks a bunch. They are exactly what I needed. Still haven't heard from the paint guy. I dropped off the decals last monday and I was supposed to have my parts back friday, saturday, sunday. Definately sunday. Well here it is 8pm sunday and no parts. Maybe he'll answer the phone tomorrow. We'll see |

NICE! I have looked at a lot of pictures of that bike but just noticed the sideplates. Butch, I assume that was pre-sidestand bend and pre-accident. Judging your previous work I bet it is better than new again. Frank |
