I've only posted a few times, getting a great backrest mod from gowindward.. Had a get-off on the way down to the Blue Ridge Parkway...Too much entering speed + down hill + decreasing radius curve = lowside... The good news...slid and went off the edge no injuries... The bad news..front fairing cracked, plastic piece that holds rear tailights broken, windshield broken(have a spare at home) various other scrapes The good news...was wearing full gear and was able to put it together enough to continue the ride with my buddies... The bad news...we made it to the hotel, got up the next morning, rode 30 miles and the belt broke... The worse news, happened on Saturday, waited 5 1/2 hours for tow truck to go to Roanoke, Harley dealer opens on Monday... The best news, any chance to meet with friends, and ride a bit is a great day! So I got nearly 7 hours on the BRP but mostly all in one spot... We'll see how Monday goes still have 11 hours to home |

Larry, glad to hear you didn't get hurt. Stinks about the bike getting beat up a little and the down time on a vacation. Loren (Message edited by gowindward on April 26, 2009) |

I feel ya bro. A couple years back I rode from my hime in Amarillo, TX to Frederick, CO to visit my friends at NRHS for the weekend. On the way home the oil pump drive gear shattered through the cases of my '03 XL1200S and blew a hole in the rear piston. I spent the night on the side of the road 7 miles from the Kansas border because I forgot to to south at Limon . |

Finally back home, thanks for all the replies... I spent Monday at the Roanoke dealership leaving at 2:30 for Michigan ONly to notice 1 hour later my right bag missing..retraced my steps, found bag run over by someone else The time lost allowed me only to get to Columbus, so had to ride through temperature drop, wind and hard rain... Now home I will add the right bag to my list of needed items, front cafe fairing looks like it can be repaired, when the bag came off it tore off the rear tail-light too... other than that the bike really ran like a champ... Thanks again! Larry (Message edited by revz on April 28, 2009) |
