Coming along! I am embarrassed to say how long it took me to get the tail section lights working. To top it off it was 12 degrees in the garage and I probably spent half the day in there before I turned on the heater. After that things went a little smoother. I still have a tranny problem and some odds and ends to take care of. The least of which is the seat but she is coming together.

Sorry I needed to post this hopefully to get me inspired to get my stuff together. It's been over a year since I've rode and I'm just a little depressed. I started this in march of 08'. Hopefully I'll be ready for March of 09' The frame is getting cleaned painted, new bearings+seals, isolators, rear shock, front fork springs and valves, voltage meter, smooth shift kit, and all the rest of the stuff I forgot by this time. Wow i feel alittle better. Thanks for your Ears ahh or eyes.

What do you do when you live in Colorado and it is the 1st day of the new year? You go for a ride. I took the 95 S2 out for about 100 miles today. She rides a lot different than the S2T. It is hard to believe that 1 inch in foot pegs and handlebars would make that much of a difference but the whole way you ride it is different. It is hard to keep it near the speed limit for sure.

Frank - since you have one of each and I've always wondered about mine...could you measure your handlebar height for me? I'm just not sure which bars are on my bike... Base of collar or top of collar, to top of horizontal bar, would work for me, at least enough to tell me if I've got T bars to go with the rest of the T stuff on my bike. Thanks |

Joe, if you use a tape measure from the top of the triple tree to the top of the highest point on the handle bars the S2T is about 6 inches and the S2 is about 4 to 4 and a half inches. Which do you have? |

I also have both types, S2 bars are 4 3/4 ish, S2T bars are 6 1/4 ish and I also have a pair of RS1200 bars that are about 4".....but angle down quite a bit...... My bike is an S2 and had the S2T bars on when I bought it. I swapped them for a pair of standard S2 bars and much prefer them. I have yet to try the RS bars but I suspect they may be a bit too low for an old fart like me!!! |

I used to have some billet S2T style bars. I don't know who makes them but I wish I had them back. They were very comfortable, and easy on the eyes, no less, since the clamps and bars were both billet. |

Lacy - thanks for the measurements, I'll have to check mine. I don't have any issues with them one way or another (I'm 6'4" and perfectly comfortable on the bike), it's just curiosity. Mine's a '95 S2 that I bought with (what I've identified) the following T parts: Saddlebags (both sets) Lower fairings / leg guards Drop peg brackets I've just been wondering if whoever put those items on went ahead and installed the bars, too. The front brakeline looks like it can't stretch much further than it is...but like I said, it's just for trivia's sake at this point (and if I decide to order the "other" set of bars, I know which one to get). Were those measurements from the top of the pinchclamp/collar, or the bottom, or the tree, or....? And to where, top of the bar where it's horizontal? One of the best things about being the holder of the Owners List is getting email from people telling me about their S2s. At Homecoming last year, during the BMC visit I bought the 25th book and got it autographed by Court and Dave and as I was doing this I asked Court if he happen to be walking around and saw a Quicksilver S2-T to please sign it. I told him it was the only one at the event. Court said "go away kid, you bother me" just kidding! Anyway, imagine my horror seeing another Quicksilver S2-T in the parking lot close to mine. Lucky for me the owner was standing by the bike and we struck up a conversation. I mentioned to Dave (the owner) that if a slightly crazy guy came over to his bike with a pen do not let him scribble on it. I thought my 96 S2-T was the best example of that bike I had ever seen till I saw Dave's. It was pristine and well ridden. Enough babble, here pics of Dave on the track with his S2-T.
I had to laugh when Dave came up with his BadWeb name: Theothers2t Thanks Dave. (Message edited by f_skinner on February 25, 2009) |

the bike looks great F_Skinner. I have the same one and all I have left to do is get it painted. Whoever did yours seems to have dome a great job. I think Im going to keep mine white and Ive seen postings of the decals so I think it's time to get the order in for those. I hope to have the body from a friend that is handling some cracked plastic for me then off to find someone to handle the paint |

Armorguard, the paint did not come out near as nice as I wanted it to but you get what you pay for. I am still searching for a painter in this area to do another set of body work and to have this set redone. It looks good until you get right up to it. You are going to have to post some pics of yours now! Frank |

Man you're killing me. Im struggling to find someone to fix the body and shoot the paint without me having to take out a second mortgage. Did you get the paint redone and roughly how much did you spend? I just want it back to stock |

Angelo, you get what you pay for. I am not happy about the paint on the white S2. I will be getting it repainted sometime in the future. I paid 800 but would have paid 1500 for a great job. I am going to check with a corvette shop to see who they recommend. Those guys are more picky than I am. |

I think it might be an MG, but it's not mine. It was a photo I received from the previous owner of the bike. |

Well I couldnt wait any longer so I just threw the body on as is so I could ride it. Thanks for hooking me up with the header Steve. I polished it and as you can see it looks sweet. All the specs on the tank cover were bubbles. I havent even started on the tail section, but it's so nice to be back on her. Havent ridden it in almost 2 years |

Getting there. Ah photo therapy. It' slightly better now. just a few more items and we are done. Well..... untill next time.
I'd like to give a shout out to Steves polishing in Juliustown NJ. He saved my front wheel. It's also why it's shiner than any other part of the bike. (Message edited by shot_gun on April 19, 2009) |

Time to get the S2-T ready for the summer.
Using my redneck lift
Exhaust ready to polish. I have mentioned how much I hate polishing exhaust!
There are some things that make the S2 an object of lust.
General pics
I took the S1W out for a spin and the float bowl is sticking so it will wait until the S2-T is done. I have had a lot of trouble with that carb so I may go with a 42mm. When I took off the exhaust off the S2T I was able to remove the exhaust flange rings holders with my hand and the front exhaust flange was bent! I am really happy that I have American Sport Bike at my disposal. When I bought the S2-T I could not believe what great shape it was in. It was a true find. I believe the isolators are original and hard. I will be replacing the isolators, wheel bearing, tires, air cleaner back plate, repack the race pipe etc etc. A labor of love and still my favorite bike of all I have owned. |

Shane, it actually is not very organized or clean but I am always looking for different ways to get it that way. I get a little anal retentive at times and usually clean the garage before I start another project. This summer I may use that stuff that goes on the floor to coat it and make it look nice. I already decided on a new work bench design and more cabinets. My goal is to get all the spare parts out of the many boxes I have them in and be able to find them quickly. Sounds like a pipe dream! I have a fridge in there for beer but now need a big screen TV and a urinal because apparently peeing in a bucket is offensive to some. |

is it just my bike or does everyone elses have an issue where the handle bar hits the fairing when the wheel is turned all the way to one side in either direction? |
