Just to put some of your mind at rest, there are some *very* with-it folks working at Buell. I had the pleasure of working with them this past weekend at IMS. "Unfortunately" they have a B&S logo on the flipside of their cards...but there is definitely a lot of passion to be had. Empowering that passion....therein lies the problem. Challenge. Whatever. I do notice they've put most of the TT into the '09 Ss, though. Interesting.... |

I did an internship for three years as part of cryptologic training at NSA. Since I had been "in the field" for most of my career and avoided NSA, it was all new to me and one of the disadvantages of getting promoted. It was interesting and I am glad I did it but the thing I learned most was all the places to avoid working. In other words I found some really great shops that I liked and I have a feeling the interns trying to climb their way through the HD corporate ladder will look back on their time with Buell as a pleasant one. Maybe evening longing to return to Buell. It may bear fruit in years to come but it certainly does not help Buell right now. I have never been to a HD Homecoming or whatever they call it but I bet it is a lot different than a Buell Homecoming and not as personal. I looked at the 25th video recently and I think Brad said it best "the bikes get you but the people keep you". That is not an effective ad slogan but it hits the nail on the head. Thanks for the insight Court. I know you are still burning the flame for Buell as the keeper of historical knowledge and I am sure it will payoff one day. It would be great to see a museum in East Troy with all the historical footnotes from a personal perspective, about the people, the bikes and the struggle. Frank |

Wow!!! Someone just got $57 for the Passion poster Court referred to earlier in the post. I tried for a couple different posters and lost out. Makes you wonder what the current value of Court's basement is. Retirement fund? |

Easy, don't feel bad. I did not get them either. I did not get a chance to bid on them I meant to come in and check for them but was busy in the garage putting bags on the Uly. Oh well, maybe another one will pop up sometime. Frank |

Frank, I just bought #1000! '95 S2, Canyon Red, not Snap Red as listed, to add to the collection. No timer cover though. Anybody know where it might be? Is this Buell # 1000 or just vin # 1000 in '95? Fairly clean, pretty good deal, about a 6 right now. Some cleaning and polish and it'll be an 8. The bike looks real stock. It's been a long time since I've seen one so stock. I might need to find an open spring shock to make it look right though. Hate Oscar's garbage can! |

Kevin, I can't say for sure that it is the 1000th Buell (as advertised on T-shirts, but it doesn't take into account the Buell's before H-D's initial investment in Buell...), but the VIN does decipher as a 1995 49 state Buell S2 #1000. I know the original owner of *the* S2 #1000 (originally blue as on the shirt), and know some interesting history about the bike that I'm going to PM you about shortly. Kind of ironic that I was talking to one of the brothers of the original owner on the phone when I read that you had purchased S2 #1000. If only I had paid better attention to the VIN listed in the ad in the classifieds...and had the money...and had the space for another bike... If this is it, this is so cool! 1313 |

From my correspondence with Kevin, I am thinking more and more that it is indeed the '1,000th Buell'. I will be calling the original owner in a few minutes (3rd attempt), so hopefully I will be able to piece together some of the details... Until then:

Nice job Ebutch! I never thought of doing a cool iron on. I will have to stop at office max, stoke up the computer, and get to burning! |

Frank. I'm in there twice and shouldn't be. Not yet, anyway. #43 and #156. #156 Tbolteric is redundant.(I started a new user name when I got the Buell but it didn't catch on.) Might add the comment that I bought it from Firemanjim. |
