No, that's moss growing, you need to get out and ride more often. .............................................. Or it could be to lean because of carb jetting or intake air leak. A little more info will help. (Message edited by 4dwuds on March 11, 2009) |

LOL....Man your right there... That moss don't grow on a roll'N stone. Sure does on my weary ol' bones tho... Was 74 here yesterday, I did get to ride some then, but its only in the 20's here today. I got this picture awhile ago. It don't look as green in it, as it does in person. I'm wondering if that K&N high flow air filter is making it seem darker then before. Its always had kind of a funny copper color. It just seem's darker then before.

Green? The pipes on my 2001 are a bit purple along the first 18" from the exhaust port. Never thought much of it, as it matches the Volcano Grey bodywork. Mine's running a bit rich, not lean, and I've got a K&N filter, too. Been that way for years with no noticeable change. |

Thats cool Zen Thanks...My bikes Volcano Grey also. Is there a touch up paint for that color ? I'm not sure if I'm running rich or lean, Its the way it was when I got it. I noticed my gas mileage hasn't been to great lately. I think I'm getting around 40 miles a gallon. Seems like highway miles eat up gas more on my bike then it does in my car or truck. But I get better on the bike riding back roads and not having to keep up a steady 70 miles an hour for 80 or so miles. I was thinking maybe the color of my exhaust was trying to tell me something... |

Found this: M0300.YAT TOUCH-UP PAINT, VOLCANO GRAY Retail Price:$11.85 ...in the Knowledge Vault: http://badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi ?tpc=3842&post=1296952 40 mpg sounds low for highway cruising. What do your plugs look like? |

That's pretty typical for the unpainted exhaust. Mine started out like that and morphed to purple. (Message edited by captainkirk on March 11, 2009) |

WoW... That is so cool...Thanks Zen. I never thought to do a search in here... This place is a vault of information... I will have to look at my plugs, I haven't had them out. They only have about 3000 miles on them now. I've got a set of them Pro Series plugs with the split V electrode, I haven't installed yet. I had a set of the 8 mm plug wires ordered but the guy backed out on the deal...We will leave him nameless. I hope he chocks on his plug wires... Over priced as they are... I was going to run the stock plugs until I got the 8 mm plug wires and a carb kit. Guess it can't hurt to pull em out and take a look at them. Man I'm glad to hear you can get touch up paint. There are several small rub areas the guy before me got on her from shipping her across country with all his furniture. I think I'm going to do the intake gasket leak test I was reading about to see if my idle speed changes when I spray carb cleaner around it. That might be part of my poor gas mileage. Checking the plugs sure won't hurt either. I would like to rebuild my carb and install different jets. I've read so much good and bad about the dyno jet kits I don't know what to believe. I think I'd be happy just to clean her up real good and try some different jet sizes. |

Hey Brinnutz...Is the clear coat separate from the touch up paint ? Or is it mixed in with it? Sleez will let us know if they have the orange . He sent them a e-mail...If they have it.I'm sure they have plenty. |

Well, it comes with the Stage 2 Touch up. They had 3 stages. Here's the Clear by itself http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUELL-Touch-Up-Pain t-96014-98Y-CLEAR-COAT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparms Z72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a4Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a131 8Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a200QQ_trksidZp3286Q2 ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem120348614364QQitemZ12034861436 4QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories |

Thanks...Brinnutz... The place I had Sleez try didn't pan out... I just sent an e-mail to "Mega Parts" asking about the Volcano Gray and the Blaze Orange... I am a little confused with the reply if it is a reply. Its in German... I'm not sure if it's an answer to my e-mail or just my e-mail sent back to me...I don't see how they could have answered it that fast... |

Mine was brownish exactly like that but I polished with Flitz and it came out like chrome.
Added an exhaust tip and ceramic coated it, White Bros. E-pipe was 4 inches blowing on the back tire. Did not make me feel comfortable with the heat and if in the future something let go it would oil the tire.

That's the Pirelli Scorpion Sync. Nice riding tire, running those on my bike now too. |

He is right, Pirelli Scorpion Sync. Even though it is only an extension on a muffler it makes it even deeper and throaty and a slight bit louder (yesss). It directs the sound outward instead of under the bike. Notice the flair I had put on the end, that helped too. |

Did you have a round outlet on your V&H can? I would love to do that, but my outlet is oval shaped - |

If the V&H end cap comes off I am sure you can get the end little curve pipe off or any good fabrication shop around can. I am lucky I live in the area I do. Philly suburbs, I have numerous bike and car shops in my area. S&W race cars is about 3 miles from my house. I have about 10 Harley dealers in 50 miles. NO superbike store like J&P though.. Find a shop that is supportive and repeat your business there. The shop that did mine, I left a drawing with measurements and 1 hour later they called me to test fit, 15 minutes later I returned they finalized the welds, I took it home, coated it and mounted it, all in 6 hours. WOW. I was impressed. |

Dupli-Color has a new Engine Enamel Ceramic Coat 500, 900, 1300 Degree paint. The stuff is tough. A bit pricey but cheaper than Jet-hot for small stuff. Comes in alot of colors and goes on real smooth. I just took my time, I lightly sanded the pipe, wiped with Alcohol let dry and then put nice even coats about 3, let dry and mounted. |

Dreadnaught1 If you don't mind a slight change of direction..... You almost showed me what I need to know, but just almost. Does that White Bros just bolt to one of the two mounts hanging down there? My V&H was all I had messed with (it's mangled), I have some Bubs from Neverenuf, and a slightly banged up White Bros. Thought the White would be easier to get on. I'm trying to just get mine going, to see if it goes and worry about details later. It seemed to fit up with just a bolt through the mount, and I was wondering how I could find out for sure how it hangs up there. I had been watching this thread prior to trying to mount that thing, now I see who to ask! |

I will see if I can add a picture in a day or so, the bike is at a separate location than my house. Yes, it does mount to a the rear with one bolt. The front is also one bolt. I will see if I can clarify and a picture. |

Dread Thanks, I've probably got it where it goes. I feel better knowing it's just the one bolt deal. No rush on a pic, but it would show me for certain. Sst Sorry for the distraction, the opportunity just popped up there! |
