a little help please? i need to know what the exhaust collector temp is on a fully warmed up bike. i am thinking of adding some silicone insulator between the shoe on a race mount and the pipe, to add some vibe isolation. but my max temp is 500 deg. i'm sure the head pipe gets hotter than that farther up, but down at the collector it might not???? i have an infra red thermometer gun, but no running tuber at the moment. anyone??? thanks. |

The folks at Jet Hot say the header pipe temp is less than 400, so the collector should be way less. I think that copper gasket goop that Buell recommends to seal the exhaust joint is only good up to 450. We can deduce it's going to be less than 500. |

I would say you are right on or dam close as i (thermo hawked) my head in traffic and it came in at 450+ in the middle of June. |

Lee... I have a buddy hopefully making a couple SOLID stainless shoes. You know, getting rid of the two tabs, and having it machined as one piece. I'll let you know. May take a bit though. |

Wilson, sounds like your buddy is busy. Maybe we can make him a dedicated tuber parts manufacturer |
