Hey guys, It's time for me to replace both tires on my 97 S1. Just lookin for some suggestions (I haven't bought a bike tire since 02). I ride about 60 miles/day mostly highway and hit the mountain twisties on the weekends. Any help would be great. thanks dave |

i went with the road attacks. havent tried them yet.i have heard great things about the metzler z-6. same compound as the road attacks, battle axe 016,and the road smart. but the z-6 claims 8500 miles and good rain riding. only down side is that they dont look all that impressive.does that really matter though? can you see your tires when your riding? |

Only set of tires I've used from new to trash on my x1 is scorpion syncs, and I loved them. After 11k miles I replaced the rear with a diablo strada just because I wanted to try the recommended 170 rear width. Unless this strada lasts considerable longer than the sync did, ill be going back to syncs when I need tires. The syncs gripped a little better, and warmed up a helluva lot faster. As far as the difference in a 170 and 180 rear.. I would like the 170 if I was at the track more often because it is very easy to flick back and forth. But since 95% of my riding is commuting or long distance, ill most likely go with the more stable 180 next time. Just my opinions.. Hope the insight is helpful. |

Continnental tires are the only tire i ever use, My brother tried the michelin pilot and crashed out and totaled his bike here is a link http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/index.php? cPath=33_108 |

Thanks for the link Russ. The "Sport Attack" and the "Race Attack Street" both look interesting. I ran through two pairs of the Road Attack on the rear (including two track days) before the front was done(picked up a chunk of metal in the rear at 3k or so, tires still seemed very new) before trying out the Scorpion Syncs - the syncs are much more compliant than the road attacks were, I wonder how they'd compare to the softer compound of the more sport oriented tires Conti is offering? I want to see if I can run some gravel fire roads on the syncs comfortably or not, if not I'll give the other Conti's a try for my next set. I never had any concern about traction on the track or in inclement weather on the road attacks and they wore very well. Personally I don't like the look of the tread patten, but if they stick what's the difference? Russ, I saved the rear Road Attack since it was still pretty new, you (or your brother) are welcome to it if you are happy with the road compound on the rear. |

I have a 90 mile/day commute that turns into 120 due to my alternate route home through the mountains. I have Pilot Powers with 7K on them. My back tire is flat in the middle but the front is still cherry. My chicken strips on the back tire are about 1/4" and I tend to catch the outside of my boots in turns so I'm pretty happy with their performance. |

On my Firebolt, I ran 207 and 208 Dunflops. Bad tires, no more on that. Metzler M-3s were a welcome improvement, but still only 4500 miles to the rear. I have finally gone thru a front and rear set of the Corsa-IIIs on my 1125R. 6100 and 7000 miles from the rears, new front at 14994. The Pirellis are the best tire I've tried yet. Very sticky and long life... win-win. Summertime I have very little chicken-strip on the rear, 1/4-3/8" on the fronts... Zack |

I have runnin' Metz since the M1 came out. Upgraded to the M3 when it hit the market. That IS my tire of choice for the S1. After I bought the RS, I shod it with a set of Z6. Couldn't be happier with these. Good for commuting and will still hold up in the twisty stuff. |
