The idle speed adjuster on my 97 M2 will turn 360 degrees for ever in either direction. Is there a stopping point or is mine broke? |

sounds busted, if i turn mine 180 degrees the idle will change 1000rpm or more! there is a kit available for $31.25, have one in stock, shipping should'nt be too bad, very small package, call 401-724-0010 or email parts@precisionhd.com to order. |

Got into it a little closer and see that it is working properly and was just screwed out to far and not making contact. After making contact with the throttle "plate" about how many turns is optimal? I know from there I'll need to make small adjustments for different conditions, but I'm having this issue... Bike keeps dying out on me as soon and I push the enricher all the way in after it has warmed for several minutes. |

I'm no expert by any means, but I'd think you'd want to have it set for 1000 rpms warm or 2000 rpms with the enricher pulled all the way out. |

Yes. My issue I'm having is as soon as I push the enricher all the way in it stalls. |

assuming the carb is in good working order, start the bike and when you push the enrichener in use the throttle to control the idle till you can open the idle adjust enough to keep the bike running. |

get the engine to operation temperature ... then set the idle at 1000 RPM(get a timing lite with a TACH. built in) ... |

No amount of idle speed will keep it running after I've pushed in the enricher at a stand still. I can get it up to speed with the enricher out the push it in and she will go but sputter if I'm not on the gas. As soon as I lay off the gas completely it stalls. I don't see any mounting hardware besides the black bracket over the carb. If I remove that does the carb just pull out then I unscrew the throttle assembly on the right side of the carb? First time pulling the carb apart and I'm skaird...

Take out the breather bolts, remove the bracket and you should be able to pull the carb right out of the boot. It will still be attached to the bike via the throttle cables and fuel line, unless you have already removed those. Don't forget a new gasket when you put it all back together. Don't be scared, these are as easy to work on as your old lawn mover - |

Thanks for the confirmation on the mounting bracket. I'm treading very lightly into these uncharted waters. I've had to many inexpensive do it yourself jobs become expensive if you know what I mean. |

You could get it running and spray carb cleaner around the manifold to see if it's leaking, but if the seals on your '97 have never been changed then they probably are. To pull the manifold bolts you'll need to cut down an allen wrench. It also helps things go quicker if you have one of those ball-end allens once the bolts are cracked loose. Be careful not to strip the heads on the float bowl screws, they can be tight. When you put it back together be careful not to overtighten the breather bolts, those hollow bolts are thin and shear easily. |

I removed the carb, cleaned it with carb cleaner, and replaced every gasket from the header to the forecewinder. Added carb cleaner to the gas as well as added new fresh gas. I replaced both spark plugs, and I've got the idle adjuster diled in. It's still stalling as soon as I push in the enricher. Idle is set and its at operating temp. Thoughts? |

Might want to check your float level. Still sounds like there might be a clog in the idle/low speed circuit. Joe |

I'm with Joe. Check your pilot jet and the passage it screws in to. Blast Gumout Jet Spray into it; and make sure it exits somewhere! |

BUELLers: When you'll start telling some of the unknowing what to do, the FIRST THING YOU SHOULD TELL THEM IS TO GET A "FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL and PARTS BOOK" ... Checking the float level is one of these things ... They need to read the book on "HOW TO" !!! INTAKE SEALS ARE ONLY GOOD FOR TWO YEARS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A FAN,then it goes to 4 years ... The correct amount of STP in your gas every 5K miles does wonders for your CARB., Plus it lubes the valve guides ... |

Are the 97-98 carbs the same as the 00 or 01, far as jet kits go? |

So here's the scoop. I've taken the carb completely apart and cleaned all the jets. Slow jet, high speed jet and the main jet. All is clear and fuel is flowing freely. All gaskets from the carb to the head have been replaced. It still stalls out immediately when I push in the choke and I'm not on the throttle. I pulled the top cap off to see what was going on with the vaccum piston. with it removed I could see how the choke works to allow additional air flow through the carb, so logic tells me there is an air flow restriction issue. I even bought a new vaccum piston and installed it. Damn thing is still stalling imediately upon pushing in the choke even with the air filter removed. Any more ideas? |

Jim Try opening the gas cap with the engine running and see if you can close the choke without the engine dying. You could possibly have a clogged gas tank vent tube. |
