Can anyone advise of what hardware I would need to mount a Borla slip-on on an '00 M2? Where to get it? I saw an unused supertrapp bracket package on ebay recently, not sure if that would work.

Thanks.

I don't think the hardware from another muffler would work, as their shapes are most likely different.

The Borla is cylindrical so the rear mount should be do able. The front inlet features a tapered cone shape to a 2.5 inch inlet elbow, similar to the supertrapp and that's why I thought with some modifications it may fit. I will have to get some measurements.

Blecha,

I just bought a borla carbon fiber slip-on with 2.5 inch inlet from ebay. Please let me know if you may have mounting hardware. My bike is an '00 M2.

Thanks

Mine was the oval 2 into one it had 2 inlets on the muffler they didn't merge at the pipe so I don't think mine will work

Carbon fiber slip on is not the friend of the buell, They always blow up! I have yet to find one that doesn't. Now if you keep it packed it may hold, Oh and if it holds together let me know i have been looking for one for a while now! To bad my last one vance & hines died in 750 miles there went $525 bucks for nothing!

Is the borla approximately the same diameter muffler as the stock exhaust?

If so, I have a brand new clamp for a stock muffler in the garage. If you can use it then it's yours cheap.

You may have to fab up your own. I had to make a new 1/2 inch steel one for my supertrap it kept cracking the weld So i just got 2x 1" w x 4" diameter muffler strap clamps not cheap ones get thick ones at least double the thin stuff try a diesel muffler clamp i used them to clamp to the new bracket i made. I just copied the old cheap thin bracket and used some angle iron 1/2 thick, Die grinder, welder and some black paint works very well and now the muffler can is rock solid!

While doing some more searching last night I ran across this old post:

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/19530.html

that deals with muffler straps, clamps, etc. While not specific to my CF Borla it provides some good ideas for making something up. If you keep following the links it shows where Al Lighton was having some reinforced front "shoes" made up. I'll check to see if he still has anymore.

preybird, why did your carbon fiber slipon blow up?

I have over 10k miles on my vance and hines cf ss2r with no problems other than the bracket cracking.
