Ain't much else to say...Other then WooHoo...

Found the M10-1.25 bolts at my local hardware store. Got some red lock tight.

Soon as I get a chance I'm going to take the plunge into bar endedness...

I would really like to hear your bike LayFayette, I bet it sounds good. I haven't got brave enough to follow your instructions as of yet. I'm still rounding up parts.

I'm not sure what you are doing with that red loctite, but don't forget- red loctite and aluminum are NOT friends.

I almost exclusively use blue on my old school Buell...

Well I was told the RED loctite worked real good to lock the screws on the bar end mirrors I was going to install.

I'm not to crazy about the out come of the mirrors or the RED loctite. Dang stuff wasn't cheap and I don't see how its that great.
I had blue...
So...Tell me, what are the effect of red loctite and aluminum? I did apply some to help grip the inside of the bars with the attachment to the mirror. I'm pretty sure it was aluminum...
Hope my bars didn't melt off over night...I better go check...

Red is permanent on any threads and while blue will hold, it can be removed and re-assembled. Red + Aluminum = screwed up threads when removing. Red shouldn't be necessary.

I don't know about the inside of bars and attaching mirrors...It should have a pressure fit and should tighten without loctite.

Thank You...
That is very good information to know...

These mirrors are kinda cheap... And they did have pressure fittings... I will remember not to use red on anything else.
The mirror I installed yesterday was rock solid today.

I went ahead and installed the other side also and had the same trouble getting them to tighten up.

I would hold the end with a pair of pliers and tighten the allen screw tight as it would go and the whole thing would still spin inside the bar end...

So I backed it all back out applied some red to the expanders and tightened them babies down again...Rock solid...

Long as I never have to take them off ...

I ought to be good to go...Dang roads are still nasty here so I haven't got to road test them yet.
I took some pictures but my picture resizing do hicky is messing up...

I would think red loctite would be OK on the inside of the bars, I was thinking threads. Sknt pretty much summed it up...

I appreciate you guys pointing that out about the red loctite on aluminum threads.
I have a picture of the set of mirrors I installed in the Bar end mirror thread

You can see in that picture how the expanders are. They only expanded so wide, and it was just a little shy of being tight enough. The loctite probably could have been blue and worked just as good.
The red might hold better if it gets banged or jarred.

Oh Yeah... I primed and painted the M10-1.25 bolts black...I had to cut the lenght of them down some but they worked great to fill the Mickey Mouse holes

A piece of electrical tape would probably suffice for this application

Yeap eshardball, You are right..It would have been cheaper also. I did use electric tape on the post that the mirror attached to to give it some squeeze space.

I'm real happy with the out come of this project. The mirrors are awesome. I like them a lot better. They are easier to see out of.
The red loctite was over kill
