Ralph, The dealer told me that Y1302.02A8 replaces Y0302.02A8 and Y0302.02A8 has been obsoleted. Sorry for any confusion. |

Loren I have the stator and regulator on the way. Thanks for the great info. I don't think the AC side should make an difference but just in case what is the pin out from the stator? Joe (Message edited by bad_karma on February 03, 2009) |

Joe, Here's the wire diagram from the XB service manual. I don't think the pin out on the AC side matters either but I did follow the diagram as though looking at the stator installed on the bike. The sockets have numbers on them to follow. Also note the pin out numbering on the DC side of the VR. Both wires coming out of the VR are black so look for the 1 & 2 on the socket.
As a reference here's the Charging Diagram for the S3 for routing the DC outout of the VR.

Sorry if I missed the obvious but what are the advantages of making this seemingly complicated "upgrade"? Does this allow for the use of more "winterware" like heated jackets, gloves, etc? |

"Does this allow for the use of more "winterware" like heated jackets, gloves, etc?" Yes...I road yesterday morning and it was 14 degrees. Heated gloves, jacket & pants liners. Plus I enjoy taking road trips with my girlfriend. It allows us both to wear heated gear and stay comfortable in colder temps. She is very worth keeping warm!! Notice she is wearing the heated gear on this trip last fall. Oh and she didn't want me taking the photo. I was layered up and no heat. It was low 40's when we started out that morning. A couple of days later in was 27 degrees when we started out for home and I got cold without heated gear.
Here she is being more photogenic at a wedding we attended!

Parts list with prices please. Minus what's not really needed. I want to do my S3T. Can you make me one of those adapters for the VR? Thanks, Frank. |

Thanks Loren. With the marginal power from the single phase this will be a help. Joe |

William, Thanks and no difference in throttle response or HP feeling. It runs great just like it did before. These motorbikes are such a blast to ride!! |

"...These motorbikes are such a blast to ride!!" I rode mine this morning after a long break and can't agree more. I missed the "rawness" of the power train and how it pulls and pulls and pulls... Nothing else even comes close to the package. |

Thanks Court. I would be very home sick if I was in NYC. I like my wide open spaces. |

Great write up and perfect timing. I lost my stator twice last year! I started looking into a 3 phase upgrade but ran out of time. This will make the next few months a lot less troublesome! Thanks again. |

To bring up a dead topic, What year did the XB's stop doing the 3phase and go back to the 30 amp single phase? Thanks. |
