Will a race ecm on an X1 work well with Buell pro-series heads and pistons? My exhaust options are a D&D, V&H, stock, or Drummer as I have all of them laying around. Intake will be a forcewinder. I'm going to have to replace a head and possibly a cylinder on an 02 X1 I recently purchased. Just checking to see if pro-series components will work well with a race ecm without any tuning. I don't need it to put out max HP numbers, just to be reliable. I have a race ECM from a 2000 model, and a stock ECM from the 2002 model, so there are choices in that area as well. Thanks for any tips. |

I don't know much about the pro-series heads and pistons -- the popular mod is ported XB heads. With regards to race ECM, I can HIGHLY recommend it, but it needs the race HEADER to fully utilize it's tuning. Otherwise you're going to have the "3500 rpm hole". Any aftermarket or Buell Race muffler will work well. A word of caution with the Race ECM; it does require high test pump fuel -- but it does work well. If you're looking for reliability, however, the mod to do is the oil pump swap. |

The proseries heads and pistons are just stock thunderstrom pieces that came on 99-02 X1s. read the buell site, it should tell you. |
