So what do you guys think? Is 100 hp at the wheel possible for an M2 without bumping up displacement? What's the max one could get to? What would one need to do? Head work? Cams? I have a race kit on my M2. I haven't dyno'ed/tuned it but I will be in a couple weeks. If have 85 at the wheel now I'd be pretty happy. How much more could I get out of this thing without going to a 1250 kit or bigger? |

I think with the right heads work and cams you could get 100rwhp. |

Describe "race kit". The tech at Nallin said that 85HP was about all you would get if you had Screaming Eagle or the new Nallin 04+ Sporty/Buell heads, an HRS42 Mikuni, 10.5 to 1 pistons, a good exhaust, and a mild cam. In order to get your 100 HP you're going to have to go with ported heads, hotter cams and higher compression pistons. KK |

85 is about what these bikes have stock, so better cams, head work, good can, and a mikuni carb should get you really close to that 100rwhp |

Race kit is just the intake, header, and exhaust. Not sure there were significant gains over stock, never dyno'ed stock. |

Usually you can feel a big jump in HP. The bike will pull a lot harder when you get on it. |

My M2,1200 cc,M-Tek floated TS-heads,standard valves, pistons and (X1)cams(standard on European Cyclones too). Pro Series exhaust,ac and ignition module, HSR 42, fine tuned by myself, Unfortunately they stopped the Dyno at 5800/rpm (idiots) It would have easily broken the 100HP line Stock displacement! Personally, I have little faith in any dyno results without a pre-mods baseline from the same bike on the same dyno with the same variables. I feel this way because dyno results can vary with a lot of factors. Techniques, gearing, etc. The more important variable is the one that is normalized: the stock components. Performance on bikes can vary between if it was assembled on a Wednesday or a Friday depending on the level of tolerance used in the castings and other pieces. I used to work as Quality Control for a playground manufacturing company, so I know that these pieces can vary greatly depending on who was in charge that day. The parts left untouched in these bikes could create greatly different results with the same modifications. |

I personally witnessed this dyno run. That Buell dyno chart belongs to our good friend, Steve Madden. He rode the bike in and they ran it, no tuning whatsoever. It had previously posted 118 RWHP on teh same dyno but that was after some careful tuning and it had been while. |

My M2 is stock except for the Forcewinder Intake and the WileyCo Exhaust. Baseline dyno (and it was running rough) was 67 hp at the rear wheel. After rejetting the carb the bike posted 78 hp. Next step will be heads and cams when the current set wears out. I am guessing that won't be for a few years. On a side note, 77hp was all I needed to go wide on a track day and flip the bike at 85 mph. I am think more HP would just allow me to do that sooner? Take a good look at the forcewinder intake. There were a bunch of issues with a change that was made in the design, where a port on the carb became restricted with the new design. I think the info may be tucked away in the knowledge vault archives. With an exhaust and a forcewinder you should be higher than 78, imho. |
